Don't use baking soda alone (meaning not in toothpaste). It is way too abrasive and will ruin your gums. Plus, it doesn't work as well as whitestrips do anyway.

I think I would go with the Crest Whitestrips. Baking soda is an abrasive and would gradually etch the teeth. That would wear them down.

People are going to give me hell for this, but it is proven effective and with no side effects: Everyday, I rinse with a cap full of hydrogen peroxide + a cap full of water, then brush with toms of maine tooth paste. The measuring cap would be the hydrogen peroxide cap, of course. Do not pre-mix a 50/50 mixture. Use the h202 and tap water separately every day. Once, sometimes twice a week, I sprinkle baking soda on my toothpaste before brushing. Do not swallow any of the rinse, only swish it in your mouth until you've thoroughly swashed it over and through all of your teeth, no more no less. If you do swallow some, you will not die, but don't make a habit of it. If you have ANY tummy problems or aches or burns, then stop it completely. But I've been doing this for years and no issues, only beautiful pearly whites. Food tips!: Eating celery, carrots, apples, strawberries, and/or pears with meals is not only healthy, but these foods help scrub a dub food debris from your teeth so you have a better chance at keeping the plaque off of your teeth between brushing. While downing calcium doesn't necessarily provide drastic results, it IS good for healthy teeth. And diversify, don't just chug milk; greens, soy, nuts, seeds, etc, all have plenty of calcium. Good luck!
