Between a tree and its fruit is a set of cells called the abcission layer. When it's time for the fruit (and leaves on decidious trees) to fall, the tree sends a message to the abcission layer to let go. This will happen when the fruit is ripe.

It also happens if the fruit becomes infected or damaged and the tree is no longer interested in continuing its growth, and in times of drought when the tree is trying to conserve water.

because they get heavy and as the worm eats it shakes the apple to fall of easily or you can also say that may be if the worm wants to get down ....

cause worms make the apple weak to hold on to the tree.. like humans bcome weak when they get cold/fever..
