Krishna Janmaashtami is observed on the eighth day of the dark half (Krishna Paksha) of the month of Bhadrapada in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatram is ascendent. The Hindu calendar being lunar, these two events [the day being the eighth of the waning moon (Krishna-paksha Ashtami) and the Rohini Nakshatram being ascendent] may overlap for only a few hours. In such an event, the festival may be celebrated on different (but successive) days by different people, depending on their local or family traditions.

This year Krishnaashtami will be celebrated on September 4.-

I am a Muslim and I wish to tell you the story of "Janmashthami".

A boy was born to 'Devaki' whose brother 'Kans' had a prophecy that the new born will destroy his kingdom. That is why he kept her sister 'Devaki' in a jail so that he may kill the boy i.e. Krishna when he takes birth.

The night when Krishna was born had heavy rains and the nearby 'Yamuna' river was flooded. By miracle the jail doors opened and Krishna's father took him into a basket and crossed the river. The new born child was miraculously saved by the serpant king of seven heads.

The newly born child was brought up by another woman called 'Yashoda' who gave him all love of a mother a child needs. This child later came to be known as Krishna who many a times saved the lives of people from 'Kans'

In his memory 'Janmashtami' is celeberated..........

Happy 'Janmashtami to all my Hindu friends.
