In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

And We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents - his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years - and said, 'Give thanks to Me and thy parents. Unto Me is the final return;

And worship Allah and associate naught with Him, and show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbour who is a kinsman, and the neighbour who is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess. Surely, Allah loves not the arrogant and the boastful;

'Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the day when the reckoning will take place.'

Thereupon he smiled wondering at her words and said, 'My Lord, grant me that I may be grateful to Thee, for Thy favour which Thou hast bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do such good works as would please Thee, and admit me, by Thy mercy, among Thy righteous servants.

And We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents. His mother bears him with pain, and brings him forth with pain, and the bearing of him and his weaning takes thirty months till, when he attains his full maturity and reaches the age of forty years, he says, 'My Lord, grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which thou hast bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and I may do such righteous deeds as may please Thee. And establish righteousness among my progeny for me. I do turn to thee; and, truly, I am of those who are obedient to thee.' '

What do these verses mean to you as a Muslim or a non Muslim?

Dear sister (((FEZ))):

“And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and that you shall show goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) “Ugh” nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word.”

The prophet said: “Goodness towards (one’s) parents is the greatest obligatory act.”

[A person once approached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) and said: “I have an old father and mother, who due to their attachment towards me, are not keen for me to go to Jihad.”]

[Hearing this], the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: “(If such is the case then) Stay with your parents for, by the One in whose control lies my soul, their attachment of one day and one night to you is better than one year of Jihad.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) has said: “The look of a child towards his parents out of love for them is an act of worship.”

Imam as-Sadiq (a.s) has said (in regards to one’s parents): “Do not cast your gaze upon them except with love and compassion; do not raise your voice above theirs; do not raise your hands above theirs; do not walk ahead of them.”

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s) has said: “There are three things which Allah, the Mighty and the Glorious has not permitted anyone to forsake: returning a trust to its owner, irrespective of whether he is a good person or an evil one; fulfilling one’s promises and covenants, irrespective of whether it has been made to a good person or an evil one; being good and kind towards one’s parents, irrespective of whether they are good or evil.”

FeZ:

The prophet said: “To do good to one’s parents is obligatory, even if they are of the polytheists, however, they should not be obeyed in acts that go against the commands of Allah.”

I try to be...but it's been real hard since they don't accept that I am Muslim...

I have to keep trying harder -- some days it literally wears me out -- all the energy is drained.

Oh, and it's not that I am exactly bad to them (not like I don't help them)...just when we talk and they attack me I am not the friendliest person. :(

Why is nobody answering your question?....20 minutes and it's just me and the troll.

I pray I can be a better daughter to my parents. Sometimes it is hard because we have different opinions on things, but we still love and respect each other, and that is what family is all about, right.

My dad passed away when I was 20 months old, never see him, I just can pray, and try to be a good daughter for him.
My Mom stays with me and I try my best to make her happy.
I often lie to her only to make her happy and stop worrying about me. I know it's bad and I try to stop it.
They are always in my prayer
thanks for the reminder, brother.

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
When a Muslim pray 5 times a day, he/she prays for his/her parents, "rabbanagh firly waliwaalidayya, wa lil mo'amineena, yauma yaqoom al Hisaab".
Who don't pray, they miss this chance daily.
to be good to our parents specially if they both are passed away (like mine), the best way is to pray obligatory prayers 5 times a day.
Give charity on their name and be a good Muslim, Allah swt. will bless our parents in return.
(my parents may Allah bless mercies on the souls of both of them) aameen.
All the parents of Muslims of the world, may Allah bless mercies on all of their souls, who are died. aameen.
