Not at all. There is plenty to do. Bars, sightseeing, bars, girls, bars, discos, food. I have been to Thailand 10 times in 3 years. I always go by myself. Of course, for a couple of those times, I was eventually meeting my girlfriend but, the previous trips were to meet some ladies, sightsee and shop.
See www.thaiwebsites.com for a variety of links to sites with info on Thailand.
www.bangkok.com for alot of info on Bangkok
www.a2zpattaya.com for a lot of info on Pattaya
www.thailandlovelinks.com to meet some nice ladies in Thailand.
I will going Thanksgiving week in November myself.
Good luck and enjoy

Most men that go to Thailand alone aren't alone very long, and I guarantee you that if you're outgoing and friendly and even if you're not, but have just a bit more personality than a slug, you'll have a great time. Besides the incredible nightlife, there are tons of things to do during the day, that's if you're not too burned out from the night before. Don't worry for a second about being bored here, you'll be laughing the whole time thinking about how bored your friends at home must be, especially the one's that told you not to go.

Dont expect people to come to you, and start interesting conversations with you. In fact I think 90% of the Westerners who travel to Thailand, dont want to be associated with other Westerners, they want to feel like they are in some exotic land where they are the only one from there country. I was kind of quiet, and reserved when I first went and thought nobody liked me, so my first couple days were kind of a drag socially, I didnt make any friends. But I still made the best of it, and saw so much. After I got comfortable, and opened up a little, I started to make lots of friends, and it was great. Most people are genuinely interested in your travels, where you are from, the country you are from etc. I think you should go, Thailand is the greatest.

There's ExPats (Farang) (American's Brits, German's Pole's Russians, Dutch, Swedes, Swiss etc) around most of the touristy areas and they have the football game on so sit and have a beer with the girls and enjoy the game. Of course American football is on at 2 am but what the hell.
Ask a local how to say Hello in Thai
Eat some papaya or pineapple from a street cart.
Drink some coconut milk from a coconut.
Get a nice relaxing massage.
Get yourself a tour guide for $33 a day and have her show you around some of the interesting sites in Bangkok.
Do a little shopping.
When you see your first elephant roaming around town stop and buy 20B of sugar cane to feed her.
Take a train to Chaing Mai.
Ride in a Tuk Tuk.
By a lottery ticket and give it back to the vendor and tell them Chok Dee.
Take a camera so your friends will be envious.
Have fun. Enjoy.

Your friends do not know what they are talking about. Thailand is a very friendly country. You will meet many people and have a very good time. There is much to do and if you are bored it is a reflection on you not on the country.
No worries mate. You'll have a great time @ BK

The mere fact that you ask shows that you and your friends do not know anything about Thailand.
You will only be bored in Thailand if you choose to be. There are so many things to see and do that I cannot imagine any visitor being bored.

Your friends are wrong. Thailand is one of the world's most tourist friendly countries. You will find that meeting Thai people and and foreigners is easy...
I would highly recommend visiting Thailand, and I would highly recommend travelling on your own. You'll have a great time.

I go on my own all the time. You will always meet people and have a really good time. I used to go with friends but always met other people and went off with them so thats why I go on my own now, means nobody can complain when they don't see me for a week and a half. Really you will be ok. At the end of the day there are plenty of woman who will be willing to spend time with you........:)

Not really I've done and it's very fun. Besides you don't have to stay alone...wink, wink, nudge, nudge...
You'll be fine and there won't be any witnesses or embarrassing moments for you to get them to swear not to talk about when you get back to civilization.
My friend went alone for the 1st time last year and he totally went bamboo on us after that. All he talks about is going back now.
