I have been searching for a 1999 Toyota celica with all the options but without success. I found a 1994 that has everything I want plus only one owner. They are asking almost 6k for the car and I've found many newer cars (Honda Civics etc) for close to that price. The celica is my dream car but I'm thinking reliability, lifespan and how much it's really worth...

I did a complete carfax check on this car and it has had only one owner who had it serviced at a toyota service center every 4 thousand miles. No accidents, no part replacements. And I was planning on negotiating the price because of the age.

The car is well overpriced. I would not even consider it for more than $4,000, and that assumes that it has extremely (under 50K) low miles on it and no rust!

Their price seems very high for a 13- soon to be 14-year old car. Unless you're a collector and very attached to that particular model, I would get something newer. I don't know if Kelley Blue Book has prices for a car that old, but definitely check. Also, keep in mind with a car that old, lots of things can go wrong, and they don't make Celica's any more. As time goes on, some mechanics might have trouble fixing them.

So far everyone has good points. Some other things you may want to ask are... What is the cars current gas mileage? Do you have maintenance records, when were tune ups done? What parts have you replaced on the car in the last 2 years? Also if your state requires emission testing does this car have to test and will it pass? Mileage is the biggest factor on a car of this age. No one can make this decision for you; honestly consider the pros and cons. Good Luck

Yes! The fact that there asking that amount is that toyotas hold there value. If you take care of it it will run well over 2 hundred thousand miles, I'm on my second one and the first had 278 thousand miles on it.
