I am currently entering my sophomore year and i want to know any workouts that have worked for anyone out there to become elite runners. I run about 40+ miles per week (speed, distance, hill workouts) I run everyday regardless of the condition. Any help would be great thank you!

I am also a xc runner/track runner. I do not like xc becasue i am more of a miler. but a really goood way for endurance is by running 400s. Yes they are tiring and painful, but they will boost your speed greatly. good luck !

I was exactly where you are when i was a sophomore. just keep training. the mistake i made that may have impeded my progress was not running in the off-seasons of winter and summer, or at least not running enough. you really need to keep at it all the time. this summer i got my head in the gae because it is my last shot (senior year) and i made a lot more progress from running in the summer running 16:30 on the track and 16:43 at a road race.

basically keep up the good work because you have plenty of time to improve, but don't get lazy

Exactly what type of speed work do you do?

The only other suggestion is to take a day off per week. My injuries and illnesses I can trace back to periods of continuous daily running without a break. Also, and more pertinent to your question is that by giving your body a day off to recover and heal, you'll actually see improvement.

Good Luck
