Hardwood will usually last a LONG time. You should get it finished though so that it will look better and last longer.

As a Florida resident and home remodeler, I usually try to discourage people from installing hardwood floors. Laminates especially are easily scratched from our sandy soil. The sand sticks to the bottom of our shoes and brought into the house. It's sandpaper on the bottom of your feet. Over time it will ruin the floor. I hope this helps.

Had it Jersey. Used to be maintenance free.
Vac weekly and on occasion would put a polish on the floor.
That floor was over 50 years old.
And it looked very good.

I have hard wood floors, live in FLA - actually they are much easier to keep clean than tile floors. Just watch with any wood in a bathroom where it may get wet - it may cause the floor to get warped.
