I was wondering how many gods are being worshipped by humanity in our present age.

This would obviously omit Zeus as I don't believe the Greeks worship him any more but it would include the bible god who is worshipped by christians.

How many other gods are currently worshipped?

I would say the majority of religions worship only one God from the Old testament!
Christians screwed this all up a Little bit by bringing in this 'Holy Trinity ' thing!
But the main religions Jews Muslims etc believe there is but one God, so do Christians but they have confused the issue lot..
It is of course also correct to say that there are very many other Gods worshipped !
The Old Testament is only what, 2500 years old? The New Testament was only made up (sorry written) about 300 years after the 'demise' of the Christian God !
All this is merely a blink of the eye in the planets history, previous Gods existed long before this lot.
More 'Gods' will come along in the future, it's not to be taken seriously.
Man has been killing fellow man since the start of time If these Gods all go out of circulation I am pretty sure we will still find a reason to kill each other, and in the meantime if it gives mankind some comfort to think they will join 'Thor' in 'Valhalla' so what??

I believe that the creation God referred to in the bible is the same god that Muslims and Jews worship, so that is 1 - he may be called something different but he is responsible for the same attrocities throughout history associated with his name. Then there are all the Gods and Godesses acknowledged by Pagans. India has gods for everything. I really don't know, maybe hundreds or thousands?

I was watching a documentary about India during the week and it was stated that they have some 33 million different gods which they worship!

I find this hard to believe but that is what was stated.

It is said by some that India is destined to become the new super power over the next few decades. Does this mean that westerners will abandon the bible god in order to worship this multitude of Indian deities?

i would like to remind everyone that hindus only worship the one god Brahma and all other god's gnesh and so on are not gods at all but are all different charachter and attributes of Brahma. Also Christians, Muslims (Moslums), and Jews all worship the same god. Many religions are also based upon spirituallity and do not directly worship a god, eg budism

Hate to clue you in but Zeus is still indeed worshiped. Thousands and thousands of gods are still worshiped. Egyptian Gods, (Khemetics) Roman (Romeno) Greek (Hellenistic) Norse/Germanic (Astaru and Heathen) Celtic (Celctic Reconstructionst) Hindus, Wiccans and Native Americans.....just to name a few

Is private interpretation of the Bible condoned in the Bible Itself? No, it is not (2 Peter 1:20). Was individual interpretation of Scripture practiced by the early Christians or the Jews? Again, No (Acts 8:29-35). The assertion that individuals can correctly interpret Scripture is false. Even the "founder" of Sola Scriptura (Martin Luther), near the end of his life, was afraid that "any milkmaid who could read" would found a new Christian denomination based on his or her "interpretation" of the Bible. Luther opened a "Pandora's Box" when he insisted that the Bible could be interpreted by individuals and that It is the sole authority of Christianity. Why do we have over 20,000 different non-Catholic Christian denominations? The reason is individuals' "different" interpretations of the Bible.

Hundreds. The problem is getting an accurate count, especilly since believer math is beyond absurdity. Does the Trinity count as 3 or 1? Sane people count three. How about saints, angels, and other assorted semi-gods? Where does one draw the line at which imaginary figure counts as a god? What about the aliens of Scientology, do they count as gods?

The point, of course, is that since they are all imaginary, another one or dozen could pop up in someone's imagination any instant, thus a true count is literally impossible.

As many as the number of people worshipping a god. As gods exist in another world, and do not exist in this world, they must appear only in the mind of the worshipper, and nowhere else on this world.
So there are as many gods as there are worshippers.
