I got bit 10 mins ago by my chihuahua. He already had his anti rabies shot. Should i still go to the hospital?
we were playing and she went straight to my face open mouthed and accidentally bit some skin off my cheek. It's tiny though like the size of a grain of brown sugar is the best way i can describe it. BUT it's bleeding and i had to let it bleed. I should let it bleed right? His anit rabies shot will expire may 2008. My mom's been bit by same dog too also while playing and she's ok now and so is the dog. But i'm scared because this time it's a few inches from my eye just above my apple cheek. He bites my hand all the time but he never manages to cut me i think it's coz the skin on my face is a bit thinner. I washed it with antibacterial soap. HELP! Anymore advice?

Put ice on the area and some antibiotic salve and a bandage. Don't worry. As long as he's had his shots, you'll be fine.
Then start teaching this dog NOT to bite!!! How can you continue to let an animal act in this way! It is very careless of you and your mom. Obviously the dog was removed from his litter too early. The pup's littermates and his mom would have taught him not to act in such a manner by yelping VERY LOUDLY any time he bit them. You and your mom need to do the same thing. If he nips at you, SCREAM BLOODY MURDER! This will let him know that he has hurt you. Afterward, refuse to play with him or talk to him or even acknowledge him in any way. If he has a crate, put him in it. He needs to know that this behavior is not acceptable at all. Next thing, get him into obedience training. He'll be a better pet and a happier one.

Is this a house dog? Did you just get the dog? Dogs not just get rabies. They have to be around another animal with rabies. Now if you live in the country and your dog runs around outside and off into the woods/forest then it may have a chance of getting rabies. You did the best you can for the bite, if you have some Neosporin may put a little of that on it.

unless the cut needs stiches u r fine. keep the cut clean and covered. If you go to the hospital the health dept will get involved because of the dog bite. keep an eye on the dog especially around children. From the sound of things this was not an intentional bite or even a fear bite, but children would be the ones that play with their faces closest to the dog.

You do not need to go to the hospital unless you need stitches.

The only thing I would suggest is getting that dog some obedience training so it isn't biting people's faces. If the dog bites a guest in your home or a child on the street you can be facing a lawsuit and the animal may have to be put down.

Dont worry... you are ok. I was bitten by a dog too before. for as long as he got anti-rabies then its fine... Rabies are NOT actually existing in every dog. I suggest clean up your wound with a hot/warm water. wash it with soap... then relax... nothing to worry.

You'll be fine....no reason for hysterics.....you won't get rabies, just keep it clean and put neosporin on it, will help it heal without a scar...

I would wash the area with soap and water...

if the area is swollen..I would appy a cold cloth to it....

I would then put a bandaid on it..and some neosporan....

good luck....

Bite the dog back, you have to show who the alpha is.
