Im not talking about natural causes. Im talking about the reports that people died in a stampede. Why do people stampede?

Firstly, i thought only muslims were allowed in Mecca, so there can be no anti-muslim racists to piss them off.
Secondly, they are in Mecca for complete and utter devotion to Allah...so no socialising and talking (where a misphrased statement could spark a riot). And if my second statement is biased and/or wrong please correct me and help me to understand.

I dont mean to attack Islam with this question. I have to utmost respect for all religions, and every induviduls choice. An please dont say the people who stampede arent Muslim. an unlearned friend of mine said that, and it sounds stupid. Thats like saying the half the pilgrims are hypocrites.

Anyone may answer this, as long as they have a sufficient knowledge of Islam and/or Hajj. No racism please.

Thanks.

Some people get too excited and are impatient.

Same principle like when people get trampled at a soccer match or music concert.

It's true only Muslims are allowed in Mecca. Stampede happened because there are thousands of ppl doing Hajj. Frankly speaking, Muslims rather died in Mecca than anyway else in this world. Becoz, once they have done the Hajj, all sins have been erased.

OK i vie read all answers to find the truth , but i think the truth is all whom who die in hajj are over seventy years old, haj is only once upon lifetime , most of the people try to wait until they raise their kids , help them to marry , then they go hajj to clean up their souls because accepted haj has no reward but going straight to paradise , so most of the old persons cannot handle the crowd and heat , but rarely youth die in fire or something concerning tents cuz they have to stay in tent for about a day or two , so delaying haj to the last moment of lifetime makes the one unable to manage all procedure and that's in my opinion the first cause

Its the crowd. Have you ever been in a huge crowd and all of a sudden it starts moving fast? One had better keep on their feet and the position one is in makes a differanc as well. Who knows why some things happen. just don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

because there are many people at this small place. so for those who don't have too much information about performing the Haj, when the call of prayer is being called or a certain moments start, those with less knowledge they go to one place at the same time, which results in this death. However, whoever die in this place has a great reward waiting for him, because this place is not like any other.

Only Muslims are allowed but they come from all over the world. The people that stampeded were running from a POSSIBLE suicide bomber, not a real one showing they don't even trust each other anymore. The fact they were willing to trample on others to save their own bacon puts me in mind of a fire in a bar full of sinners on fire. everyone too drunk to know what to do.

when people are really excited, they get rattled. and when they are rattled, they stampede. just like cows. i would imagine that for a lot of first time pilgrims, they may just be so excited to see mecca that they start to push. soon everyone is pushing, and all hell breaks loose.

There is an ocean of Muslims, no one have bad intention and a hypocrite never reach such sacred areas, I have experience there while stoning the Shaitaan, a special power of faith emerges within you, a hatred feelings for shaitaan, that exists in you for rest of your life, when one becomes pure of evil acts in rest of his life.
Some people commit a serious mistake, if any thing fell down from their hands, or they suddenly decide to change their route or they left their shoes behind, so they bend down ward and fell down, then it is not possible for others to stop, as there is flow of people like flood.
No body do that with bad intention.

Did you know that a moving crowd is like moving water and will flow any attempt to go against the "flow" will result in disturbance of the movement. By the way there is no silly hidden message in this reply

It is very crowded at Hajj.. Because it's once every year, and once in every lifetime.. When a person fall.. he wont most probably be recognized.. and to Ex- Muslim above.. Muslims pay great respect to human life and they don't see a man falling and step on him for pleasure.
