I bought a Sony DSC-W70 earlier this year. From looking at the specs on www.sonystyle.com, it appears that this is comparable to the W80 camera you are looking at. I absolutely love it. The size is great- very easy to carry around, and the zoom capability is excellent, as is the quality of pictures it takes. The large 2.5" LCD screen is easy to see, even in bright light. I like the fact that the camera function names are displayed as you scroll through them, so you do not have to go find a book and remember what each icon means, so it is much easier to get the right setting for the type of situation you are taking pictures in. One of the things I like the best is that the battery charge lasts for a LONG time; I was skeptical when I read the initial information from Sony on that, but it does last just as well as the specifications say! I had thought about buying a spare battery, but so far have found that unnecessary: the battery charge will last for my whole vacation. Hope this information is helpful to you in your choice.

I got the canon SD 750 about a week ago, and I love it compared to the previous cameras that I have owned. I bought it because of the high rate for the price of $299. One of the many great features is it take 1 second to turn on, and your ready to take a picture, so you can almost instintly take a picture, once you know your subject. It also has great features like color accent mode or color switch mode. You can also use a sd card and it can hold well over 1,000 pics with a 2 gig SD card. The camera itself is really small and thin, for all the features it has. You can download pics to your computer by using mini usb cable included with the camera. Overall I think this camera would be perfect for tourism, sport events, events, and protraits.
All I know in comparison is that this camera is better than the sd1000 from the reviews I read.

You might want to check the review of five 10 megapixel digicams in the Sept. 2007 issue of Shutterbug magazine. You can also read it at shutterbug.com.
