Shipping fees - about £1,000.
Import duty, V.A.T. and brokerage - around 30% of the vehicle value, including shipping fees (e.g. if the car cost you £10,000, getting into the U.K. will cost an extra £3,300).
S.V.A. and registration - around £1,000.
So, if the car cost you 10k to buy, getting it to the U.K and on the road will cost about £5,300 (which is why most people don't bother...).

The car gets shipped from a dock and should cost about 1800.. + your taxes where you live. If you pay cash then just tax at your country but financed in USA you will pay twice.

I think you'll find this useful: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/ImportingAndExportingAVehicle/DG_4022583
Added to all the statutory fees etc, is, of course, the cost of getting it on a ship and carried here.
