if u believe in yourself go online and look for record labels and recording companies for addresses to send demo's to try and sing in public if, get people to know your name and face, try and get into local events, karaoke at the pub etc. Then wait for the replies from the companies, keep pestering sending new demos and write to them.

Music is work; a job. You have to have the talent, experience and education to get work or gigs. It starts with you. You are the one that needs to study and learn, gain experience and understanding and work very hard at it. Do you have enough songs, do you have equipment, do you have contacts and people to work with you. Better get busy, you are a a good age and have the interest, so do the work and get out there and see if people like what you do. Try getting on at fairs and festivals in your area - but you have to be ready. You have to be a talented and knowledgeable individual to make it and the market is for talent under 21 followed by much arder work and endurace after that. It is a job. If you can't flip burgers on a grill forget about making Big Macs...

the best advice I could give is to make a recording of your singing at a proper recording studio, this can be costly but if you are really serious about wanting to sing for a living it is the best way to get you out there. the X factor and Britains got talent are just a public way of making money for the record companies and Simon Cowell, you do not get to sign a proper contract that you can make your own conditians. make the recording and send it to every record label you can, this will get you noticed, if your good enough, rememberthat there are thousands of hopefulls out there and you have to prepare for yourself for criticism and rejection. it took bands like, Oasis , happy Mondays and ect years to get noticed by the right person, what you have , if you have the gift , is youth on your side and at the moment the pop world is getting more interested in the younger generation to be able to mould them to the newest craze. good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be sure to use your own voice...it's tempting to try and emulate singers when singing along with them. Practice hard, and don't focus on being a star. Focus on being the best and put yourself in front of audiences whenever possible, if your comfortable doing that. Performing is often the hardest part. When your at ease in front of crowds it shows and brings out a sense of showmanship in what you do. Just watch the current batch of top 40 hit-makers and see for yourself. But please don't follow the example of 50 cent.

Calm down. Fame is overrated. Much better to be a good performer, singer, songwriter - you might not be as well known as Madonna, but you'll always have work, people who'll buy your music, satisfaction in what you've achieved yourself through your own creativity.
It's the conceited and talentless that think that X-Factor is the only way for them, because often it is. Kelly Clarkson, I believe, won Pop Idol, but she is truly talented and very hardworking, and the judges recognised that, and the competition helped her become known a few years sooner than she would have otherwise been.

Right, here's what to do. Become a total slag, hurl abuse at othe recording artists, storm out of radio stations crying, drive while drunk and write songs about how miniscule your ex-boyfriend's penis was. It worked for Lily Allen.
It also helps to be the daughter of Keith Allen.
If that fails, just keep trying. The trick is never give up. Good luck.
