Anyone out there not prepared to take medicines?

Are there circumstances when medication is more of a worry and pain than what it is trying to cure? Several people I know who have had chemotherapy swear they would never had started it if they's known how ghastly it would be.

Anyone experiencing and coping with major (eg. cancer or heart problems) WITHOUT taking medicines? Is it possible to get a diagnosis withOUT feeling obliged to take the prescribed medications?

Is there an age at which it is better to accept decline and old age rather than swallow pills in search of immortality?

Conventional medicines can cause as many problems as they're likely to cure unfortunately!

I try to use herbal medicines whenever I'm able to. I suppose if I was seriously ill or in a lot of pain then I'd have to resort to conventional medicine.

If you had a serious illness then you'd probably die sooner if you didn't take conventional meds.

My first husband went through chemotherapy for cancer and it didn't do a thing and he died anyway. He always regretted going through it and it ruined the quality of his last months.

I suppose the will to live is strong though and most people are willing to put up with the side effects if they think there's a chance of life at the end of treatment.

i am happy to swallow my 12 pills a day, they keep me feeling well and enable me to live a life that is much more pleasant, normal and active than I would otherwise be able to do.

Medicine is still far far from perfect, but it does, often by means of pills, help cure manage and palliate a huge amount of pain suffering and mental and physical misery. These days every pill prescribed has gone through a complex risk benefit study to make sure it is worth taking, and with most drugs there are continuous post marketing studies to ensure that problems that only show themselves afer many years, or side effects which only show up when huge numbers of patients are treated are not missed.

I have never heard of anybody not having treatment for Cancer who has not in the end died ... There was a young woman athlete called Lillian Board who sadly had Cancer when in her twenties, she tried alternate therapy for treatment and sadly she passed away about a year after she first had the disease. The only to beat cancer are the various medical treatment and by supporting Cancer charities
