I'm a flight attendant for a major airline and I'm always looking for light luggage that also works well for packing. The places I have been successful so far is ebags.com where they will give you all the specs or tj max ,marshalls and kohls usually have a good selection. I have gotten light bags at all three of these places. Good luck and happy travelling!

Don't get a suitcase, get a backpack. It's the easiest to move around with and you take the weight evenly on your body. None of that pulling an arm out of its socket and twisting the wrist when a case gets jammed in the escalator/doorway etc. A good outdoor shop will have lots of options.

Travel like a rock star. Buy a used ATA case on eBay.
It's the only case with locks approved by airlines for
flight. Insurance companies require it for items they cover and for all musician's equipment, so I can't figure out why I don't see it more at airports. Probably just american market and fashion minded people.

Samsonite, JCPennys, Sears, etc. websites.
The weight is shown in the specs. of each suitcase.
I would look online at the various manufacturers products and then go to your nearest mall/travel store and actually check some of them out.
