The good side of global warming? Well I suppose it *might* bring some positive aspects to some people, but even then at enormous cost too I would imagine.

There are some people in Russia who think global warming might be good for them; as their climate gets warmer, their land would become more hospitable. On the other hand rapid warming would severely damage or destroy their ecosystems.

You said that global warming has increased public awareness of environmental issues. I agree with this, but point out that the attention given to global warming is attention diverted from other important issues. Global warming is not the only threat facing our civilisation, but people don't tend to know so much about deforestation or say coral reef bleaching.

What good side? There isn't.

Haven't you been listening to the news on TV about all the flooding in areas that never had flooding before. These areas are getting hit with heavy rains/storms they never experienced before. And there are other areas that are experiencing just the opposite. Those areas mentioned above are repeatedly getting hit with these hard rain/storms.

I live in the north woods and there are changes happening as we speak. No rain, no snow for the past two years. Our lake
shore keeps getting further and further away from "lack" of rain and snow. It's effecting everyone up in this area. People aren't buying snowmobiles because of the lack of snow. They have to go further to find snow. We depend on these resources. With the lack of rain and snow our homes and forests and taking the brunt. Not to mention businesses who depend on snow to keep them from loosing their businesses.

We are experiencing warmer summers and warmer winters. The rain and snow provide necessary elements to keep the Eco system stable. It just isn't happening.

If there is a good side with global warming, I sure don't see nor feel it.

Global warming effects everyone and everything. It gives thought to our future and our kids future. What do all of us have to look forward to. I'm affraid to think about it,

there is no positive side that really makes up for the great losses mankind will indure.

all of our established coasts will be lost, and we will have to re-build our ports and beaches. this would put a lethal halt to vital trade until we are rebuilt.

the tempurature rise will cause unfamiliar weather systems, leaving us out in the open to unseen severe storms. the rise also means more droughts, floods, and famines. what was once good farm land will become unfertile deserts. we will have to learn new ways to farm what little land we would have left.

hotter waters mean no ocean channels, which would cause a major extinction of marine animals and animals that feed off of ocean life and animals that eat the ocean-eaters. unless they can adapt, tey are doomed to fail.

plants would suffer, too, and those who are somehow connected to them (aka, rabbits, foxes, bugs, snakes, hawks) would die of starvation.

our fresh water systems would be seriously depleated, and where water is dangerously scarce right now will drive millions to refugee lands.

the loss of land will also mean that crouded places will become even more crouded.

our food, watter and land would all be cut back.

tell me, is there any postitives to global waarmig that would make up for that?

There are upsides to Global Change!
1) With a global temperature increase of 2-4 degrees, vast areas of the northern US, Southern Canada, northern UK and central Russia will be available for farming. This is pristine land that has never been farmed before and will more than replace the marginalized farmlands that will eventually turn into desert.

2) Many coastal countries will experience increased rainfall in areas that were deserts including India. Future planning will capture the current floods and irrigate millions of acres for farming.

3) As the polar ice caps melt away, the Northwest Passage will become a reality saving trillions of gallons of fuel in the shipping industry. Vast unreachable oil fields will become accessible in the Arctic Circle-maybe as much as 50% of the total world's oil is waiting there but currently unreachable.

4) More CO2 in the atmosphere helps more plants grow both in nature and in farmlands. Raising the CO2 in a greenhouse by only 1% can increase yields by 25-50%

5) Winter energy needs will decrease as the temperatures in many areas rise above current levels. Air conditioning costs may rise but many big businesses are capturing this excess heat and converting it to usable energy.

6) We will have more days at the beach!

there is no good side to global warming because it will in time impact on living environment and cause the extinction of the animals and plant life that can not adapt.

Warmer oceans is suggested as a plus to some. Trouble is that warm oceans create hurricanes. The warmer the ocean the more energy available to create big hurricanes.

there's no good side of global warming

Global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.

Global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the twentieth century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations"[1] via the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes have probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950, but a small cooling effect since 1950.[2][3] These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least 30 scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is the only scientific society that officially rejects these conclusions.[4][5] A few individual scientists disagree with some of the main conclusions of the IPCC.[6]

Climate models referenced by the IPCC project that global surface temperatures are likely to increase by 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) between 1990 and 2100.[1] The range of values results from the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as models with differing climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a millennium even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized.[1] This reflects the large heat capacity of the oceans.

An increase in global temperatures is expected to cause other changes, including sea level rise, increased intensity of extreme weather events, and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other effects include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the exact degree of climate change expected in the future, and how changes will vary from region to region around the globe. There is ongoing political and public debate on a world scale regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected consequences. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

If you are a liberal or socialist, it serves as your current best chance to convence people that they should let you put the government in charge of every aspect of our lives. If you are a conservative or a libertarian, there is nothing good about global warming.

that it is only a stage and it isn't even that much warmer! the earth goes through warming periods, but it doesn't mean that all the polar bears will drown, it just means that the beach is a good idea for more days. heck, why not?
