If you consumed a cough syrup that contains Dextromethorphan, then yes you probably were high. Psuedoephedrine can also produce side effects but from what you described, it sounds more like a Dextromethorphan induced high. More commonly known as a "dissassociative" type high. This means that it's common to lose sense of coordination, and also have an out of body feeling or a notion that your weight isn't proportionate. We used to drink that stuff by the bottle when we I was younger, and let me tell you, a whole 8oz bottle will turn your world upside down.

The downside to using dissassociatives such as this one is habitually is that they almost always cause long term damage to the brain cells and nervous system, and it's often not reverseable. Many studies concluded that it will actually leave "holes" or inactive sections of the brain from repeated usage.

Main point being, it's not even close to being worth the long term effects for the short term high (which usually lasts 6-8 hours)

Find out from one or more alternative medicine books what resolutions are available to actually "cure colds and coughs." The drug houses (pharmaceutical) places, want to get rich on the backs of the people they are supposed to serve. Try the alternative treatments which are geared toward the natural way of healing ailments of all sorts. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Pay attention to what God is telling you. Daily read Psalm 35 (Plead My Cause). Then ask God to take care of the known and the unknown and protect you. As long as you follow the Lord's Will, you will be protected. For peace of mind, quietly say "Peace Be To This House." - Luke 10:5. Then peace will be transcend every other occurrence around you. Peace and God Bless.

YES, MEDICATION CAN AFFECT DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT WAYS. It is very likely the cough med did cause the side effects. If the side effects continue, see a DR. There could be a permanent problem.

You should have been taken to the hospital. You must have had poisoning. You are lucky you are here to talk about it. Overdosing can also cause brain damage.
You are supposed to take medicine by the dosage instructions only!---bettyk

It depends on what kind of high. If it contains alcohol, methylamphetamine (used to make the illegal drug meth) or desoxyephedrine, then yes.
