vitamins - garlic, C & horseradish. take 2 at breakfast and 2 at dinner.
- lots of vitamin c
- honey lemon drinks
- lots of green vegies,
- NO dairy. dairy contains histamines which will make your nose runnier and your mucus triple.

Take 1000 mg of Vitamin C daily. It comes in pills from the store. People will say "You're wasting your money...you just pee it out," but I always get better, faster, with it. Even if it's a placebo effect, who cares, if you get better? Be sure to drink fresh OJ, or better, eat whole oranges, without the orange peel but with the white peel. Drinking fresh carrot juice is good, too; the kind you get in the health food section of the store for $6.00 a quart.

Also, I read that having a cold is the equivalent workload on your body of a full-time job, so STAY IN BED & REST, every minute you possibly can.

Like you said rest (lots of vitamin C -- seriously 500 - 1000 mg a day), plain robitussin (guaifenisen syrup) to loosen congestion, hot weak tea, maybe a humidifier since you are in AZ, lots of rest again and other fluids...gatorade, chicken soup. Also there is some zinc over the counter thing that is supposed to be great.

Take something with Zinc in it..the zinc drops that you suck are are effective..they taste horrible but they ARE effective. You can also try some echinacea along with that. Make sure you are drinking enough water to flush out your system (dont overdo it with the water though cuz that can be bad for you too).

I hope you feel better and have fun in drumline this year!!

Depending on your cold symptoms, you should probably get some sort of cold medicine that relieves your particular symptoms.
It should say on the label what symptoms the medicine treats. I'm sure the pharmacist could point you in the right direction as well.
With enough rest and good daily nutrition you should snap out of it pretty fast.

Fresh squeezed lemon juice with cayanne pepper! It will promote sweating and raise your internal body temperature. The theory is that the sweat will eliminate the toxins from your body, the pepper accelerates this. The lemon has loads of vitamins, and is also a good cleanser. Oh, and hot baths and saunas, if you can. (To really sweat it out)
