It didn't say they were starved of male company.
It said that the two daughters had no men around where they could have children and carry on the family name. So, the oldest daughter decided to get Lot drunk with wine and have sex with him so she could have a child and carry on the family line. Then, they decided that the younger sister would do the same thing; get Lot drunk again and get pregnant. Lot didn't know about it.
The oldest daughter had a boy named Moab, he became the ancestor of the nation of the Moabites. The other daughter had a son named Benammi; he became the ancestor of the nation of the Ammonites.
Needless to say, there was a lot more to this story. You have to read what leads up to this incident and after. You have to realize the times back then were extremely different than today except people are still doing the same sort of things. Taking matters into their own hands.
There was still more to the story; the angels had warned Lot to take his family and leave because God was going to destroy the city. They went to live in a cave. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by fire. Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt because the angels told them to leave and not look back. She looked back.
There is more to what is in the Bible than a few verses here and there. You have to read the whole book or chapter. Take and read the whole chapter from beginning to end so you can understand the whole story. Read one book and then another to get more out of what really happened. All that happened back then is very interesting.
You mentioned Gen. 19 verses 31-36. What about verses 1-30 that lead up to what happened? It's all important. Did you start reading at the beginning of Genesis? There are 50 chapters of Genesis.
Thank you for bringing this chapter to my attention. I'm almost finished the new testament right now. I'm anxious in starting the old testament.

Remember, not even Lot's daughters were free from sin. They were convinced that what they had just witnessed was the end of civilization. They felt their only chance of human survival was to become pregnant by the only man they thought was still living.
This is also in the Old Testament. Remember, after the birth of Christ, everything changed. Genesis is Greek in origin and, depending on the context, can mean "birth", "origin", or "genealogy". As strange as it may sound to us, God still had a plan for this sin....The two son's born to Lot's daughters were the ancestors of the Moabites and the Ammonites, two nations that were to become bitter enemies of Abraham's descendants. This plays a key role in the history of Irael even to today....

God didn't make that story up for our entertainment. God recorded a fact for our instruction and learning. God never said that He approved of what happened. Incest still happens all over the world - fathers molest their own children. In this particular instance the children molested their own father. He was probably overwrought with sorrow from losing his wife and was willing to drown his sorrows in alcohol. Wrong move - but the fact remains that it happened. The holiest of people can be undone in a single moment of weakness - one hour at the bar can be enough to ruin a carefully preserved reputation.

Why not any religious book may be moral guide . I am not Christine but I do browse it and so many other literature. I don't make any difference in any religious books as they certainly give and direct us to walk on right path. Don't limit to a particular religion.

It's that exact thing that makes me cringe when I hear people quoting the bible.
I can't speak for anyone but me but I am not going to let some ancient book that it filled with death, incest and murder tell me how I should live my life.

It most certainly should not. We get our morals from our upbringing and common sense, decency ext. Any person should know right from wrong without that book.
