Yes, I've heard of it. I don't know much about irreversible effects though. I did a check in some sources and found it referred to as alcoholic dementia. I found an article in EBSCO that talks about the dementia, but I can't find a way to attach it here.

If you have access to the above resource, then using alcoholic dementia as a search term worked, while "wet brain" produced very little. If you don't have access to this source, try me tomorrow at

and click on the Ask a Librarian link and send me an e-mail reference question. I do "Ask Morris" on Sundays. If I can't send the attachment from the Docutek page, I might ask for your e-mail address and send the pdf as an attachment.

Yes, I've heard of it, and William_Byrnes is correct. It's referred to as "wet brain" because the brain is steeped in alcohol...too many brain cells have bitten the dust.

It's pretty easy to cure, just use your hair dryer a bit longer than normal, just like your hair gets dry, soon the wetness around your brain will dry too.

I haven't heard that term, but I thought we all had "wet brains " seeing that there is fluid around them.Maybe it's just something someone made up to describe someone who can't think straight .
