My friend's husband is a minister and he claims somewhere in the bible it says woman are not to wear men's clothing. But as I tried to point out to her, when the bible was written, men wore robes (dresses). I think it's just a male superiority kind of thing, but I could be wrong.

i think the answer to your question is dependent on the reason you ask. are you asking because you have a desire to know the truth or are you asking because you want to make fun of someone. people that receive convictions in their lives which they feel are from God, sometimes cannot put those convictions into words. i don't believe that anyone ever has a right to tell someone they are going to hell because they don't share the same convictions. i do believe, however, that all of us will be judged by every word in the Bible and whether or not we measured up to God's expectations of us. if you haven't been baptized in Jesus name and you have not received the Holy Ghost, then the pants issue shouldn't even concern you. the pants issue should be at the bottom of your agenda. people could list scripture after scripture for you to read and evaluate but God has to give revelation and conviction. not man.

in the bible days the men did wear robes, but they would gird up their loins and pull it between their legs to resemble pants. also you can tell a pentecostal from a mile away and that is a good thing because the bible says to be seperate from the world and to not be conformed to this world, also it is a great witness. people come up to my husband and i all of the time to ask where we go to church. most other religions you could never tell by looking at them wether they go to church or not, because they look just like people who don't even believe in God

They greatly twist and do damage to 1 Peter chapter 3. Peter was refering to relationships between husbands and wifes and how a wife shouldn't put on a false image or an image of vanity to her husband. The wife should present herslef in a way that the husband can appreciate her for who she is as a whole person...not how she can dress her self and appear to be some one she isn't....It has nothing to do with a strict dress code.

It's not about male superiority. It's about defining the sexes and encouraging them to be unique. :) There is a part of the Bible that speaks against cross-dressing, and I would say it applies to whatever culture you're in. Personally I wear jeans, but I usually only wear jeans from the "womens" section of the clothing store. You can tell the difference pretty easily, and that's what women wear in this culture.. So it works for me.

the thing of men and women not dressing each others clothes is a parable for know your place...
But as far as some one required to wear dresses to church...it's called respect....I think it's very disrespectfully for people to come to come to church dressed like you were going to work or on a picnic..bluejeans with holes ripped shoes or no shoes.....people have lost respect for their self and for anything sacred, and holy.....really they shouldn't be able to wear shoe in church...but its so inconvenient just like dressing up to go into a holy place....
