What fuel and/or exhaust modifications increase mileage? Any tips?

KN air filter, Synthetic motor oil, Narrow street tires, lighten the load, drive slow and smoother.
Get rid of it while you can.

Just figure 17 to 21 maxium Highway miles a gallon. And money spent for exhaust intakes and tuner chips will be wasted. Xterria while a capable off road truck in 4X4 the average 2 wheel drive sits up high and has the areodynamics of a brick. So faster you go less mileage you get. Keep it completely stock use synethic engine oil. And drive with the automatic speed control whenever possable. Easier rolling street tread tires may help when you need tires.

Headers almost gave me a 1-2 mpg increase but they cost me $1100 for the headers a muffler and a tailpipe and the installation. Try all the basics first. Tuner chips, performance mass air flow sensors, Perf. intakes, etc.

you can add an cone shape intake but thats going to make you want to drive fast because it has such a nice noise
