I saved two dogs that were running in the street. It backed traffic up for a while, but everyone was really kind. I got them into my car, took them home, bathed them outside and then called the vet's number on the rabies tag. The tag was old and they were unable to contact the owner (which was listed as being a town an hour away, so she probably moved). I took them to the local animal (no kill)shelter and people were already asking about adopting them as I was leaving. I would have kept them, but we are already outnumbered by animals in this house. Whenever I can help other sentient beings, I feel spiritual and at peace.

I don't think my goal is to feel spiritual. My goal is to pick a promise from the Bible and trust God with it.
Let me give you an example:
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37)
Through trusting Him, I have established faith for the day. I remind myself during the day as often as I can. That's what I think is leading a God inspired and spiritual life. If I do that, the 'feeling' of spirituality comes.
And when I pray, I often just talk, as if I am talking to you, without the stained glass tones and a lot of thees and thous.
Like many say, it's a relationship. And I am satisfied with it.

Prayer: It's direct communication with God.
Doing something good for others: It's always nice and pleasing to God.
