I found a few specific YMCA websites that offer free access to active military, but no information on a national program. Check with your local YMCA.

Yes its not just Army it is any branch of the service. When my husband and I went home on leave last summer, all we had to do was show our IDs and let them know we'd be in town for a month on leave and we didnt have to pay for access to the facility. As far as I know it is every YMCA that offers this, but I would definately check with your local one to verify.

never knew the YMCA charged to use there facilities? thats a new one on me, they don't here in town, played basketball and used weight room for years off and on, no one ever said anything about a fee? are you sure they charge? I know they do for homeless people to spend the night , $1.00 a day, or for anyone, travelers hikers etc, but not for anything else.it's a charitable organization, how can they charge a fee for services they cannot make a profit on, or from donated equipment? maybe it's different where you are, go and ask, never hyrts to ask right.

The URL below is for the YMCA national web site. You can click on the "contact us" link, then send them an e-mail. As far as I know, each YMCA makes its own rules on this question.
