I only do it with certain people. Reminiscing, I guess.

Hasn't anyone that you loved and cared about passed away? If not then perhaps that is why you don't understand why people would talk about their deceased relatives. Memories of these people are all they have left and if you don't share these memories, sometimes you feel like you could forget them. My mom passed away from cancer 2 years ago and I miss her more everyday. I find that if I can talk about her and keep her memory alive, then the pain I feel of her loss is less because I've helped her legacy go on in some small way.

Remembrance, good times they had, also might have some guilt feelings (such as... should have not had that fight that wasn't resolved, should have spent more time with them, should have done more things with them)
Also, dead relatives somehow tend to bring more memories that 'still alive' relatives. It is a waste of time, the 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' when they could be actually doing the 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' with the live relatives they are yakking with!
Personally, I never talk about my dead relatives,,, too many tears involved. I only talk to myself about the 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' stuff.

Salam sister yes 3 days Al hamdoullah for morning and then we move on realizing the soul is unto thee if pure they will be with him in peace and waiting and then return on that day he is King high always Al hamdoullah. We need not make worship to them, they are gone, and we take the greatness and always talk great about them no matter what adversities they suffered we know not what Allah SWT is going to do with some and others we know for sure what is going to happen to them, well the hadith tells us alot and we sure need to read it all before we make judgement and cast upon anyone.
There is a pure soul in us always and the seed removed by washing and being good to each other Al Asr 103 Al Quran shows if we are not good and washing each others hands that we will be surely unto desaster and Allah SWT warns us over and over going from a NAT simlatude to A gushing rock that pours in the hearts of men, in goodness and badness, and also in the ever lasting light that he gives us.
We have so much to be thankful for, yet we are still on here, chatting about our boyfriends and stuff, have you seen the dating section, I near lost vomit twice how they speak... and they complain about me.. my lord!

The need to releive some of the sadness by sharing memories, last moments etc. My grandparents on my dad's side died before I turned 10. I miss them... a lot.

It takes a long time for people to recover from the death of their loved ones or relatives. They might be very special to them and now they are dead.

Well what is wrong with that? It is better than talking about masturbating and periods like they do on the health category.

In remembrance - they loved them, and the only way to carry the memory is to share it.

because they either loved them or hated them, if they just sorta liked them they wouldn't be talking about them right?
