The Greek is more emphatic.
Ego eimi, he hodos, kai he aletheia, kai he zoe.

Or in English:
I, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life;
or by interpretation:
I, in contradistinction to any other am the Way, and the Truth and the Life.

"No one is coming to the Father except through Me."

Couldn't be any plainer.

Exactly what is written, not what you or anyone else might think it means.

John 14:6-7 is Jesus' answer to Thomas; you have only quote part of the answer. To understand its meaning, you need more.

Jesus' entire talk with his disciples is in John 14:1-30. It is a discussion without parables.

Answer: How well do you know the scriptures?

It is necessary to look at the whole verse - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. You see the key is JESUS. HE is the way, the truth and the life. We can NOT get to God except through Him. 1Timothy 2:5 says For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus and Acts 4:12, tells us about Jesus, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

You see each of us has sinned and that sin separates us from God. It will end with eternal separation with us in a lake of fire. God loves us though and didn't want that for us, so He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus took the punishment for our sin so we wouldn't have to. He died and arose again. If we trust Him as our only way of salvation, He will save us and keep us.

You see, 2 Corinthians 5:21, puts it this way, For he hath made him (JESUS) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. That is why salvation is ONLY through Jesus Christ. He alone was able to pay for our sin and reconcile us to God.

You said in farther info, that you agree with anyone who believes in God, but you have to be careful. Not everyone who believes in God is saved. The Bible tells us in James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Even the devil believes in God, but I don't think you would agree with him.

God sent his son to the world (like a gift) to save us from death through his sacrifice. Essentially, Jesus gave up the opportunity to be king of the world, having overcome the devil's temptation. Jesus said he is the one true way to eternal life, the Father's kingdom.

John 14:6 tells us why John 3:16 is relevant.

How can we know the way to God? Only through Jesus. Jesus is the way because he is both God and man. By uniting our lives with his, we are united with God. Trust Jesus to take you to the Father, and all the benefits of being God's child will be yours.

As the way, Jesus is our path to the Father. As the truth, he is the reality of all God's promises. As the life, he joins his divine life to ours, both now and eternally. ~A divine share in life~.

No one can come to know and be one of Gods children except by coming to Jesus first and through him you get to God
so many do not accept Jesus but God so they are wrong

By Jesus dying for our sins, he accepted all the punishment those sins earned. This is his gift to us. If you do not accept Jesus, then you do not accept his gift. This means that you still have to pay for those sins. Romans 6:23 states "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Jesus talked in parables, and drew many analogies to Himself. He is a vine, and we are the fruit; He is the door, anyone who does not eat his flesh or drink his blood will not get eternal life, etc.

Jesus is the way ( the path) , the truth ( the one we measure all truth on), and the life ( those that trust in Him will live, and never die) .

That's what it means to me.

The only way to God is through Jesus because He died for our sins. Through Him we are saved.

It means that I should read the whole chapter to be sure I understand the context of the statement before I assume I know what it means.
