The one from 2 Kings where God sends a she-bear to kill the kids who were making fun of the bald prophet.
By the way, I'm an atheist. The bible is just what you called it: A book of stories.

I really like the story of the good shepherd and the lost sheep. My mom used to tell it to me as a bed-time story. She really made it come alive! She embellished it a little, making it a stormy night, and the sheep got caught in the bushes when it got lost. Then, of course, as in the story, the shepherd comes and rescues the sheep, and so kindly brings it back to the fold.
Jesus said that He is the Good Shepherd, and even gave His life for the sheep. As people, we have all gone our own way and become spiritually "lost." Also, if we have once walked with God, and strayed away, that is also like the lost sheep in the story. Just like the shepherd made special effort to find that one lost sheep and bring it back, He tenderly loves every one of us, including those who have wandered away from Him, and draws us back. (It is still our choice, if we respond though.)

Favourite of all?...perhaps...
The Whole story at Mathew, the tax collectors house with Mary Magdalene and her public display of her Love for Jesus and knowledge of who He Was (and IS...and IS to Come).
Too many too mention, couldn't you just eat, devour the Bible?

Jesus and the woman at the well. It reminds me of his grace to all of us who have sinned.
By the way, a story can either be fiction or fact, in the case of the Bible, it is fact.

Jacob & Laban.
Jacob was a dubious little bastard! The tricks he pulled with his brother's inheritance and blessing, Laban's flocks, etc... the guy was clever to a fault. And he married sisters (who were his first cousins, but that's beside the point).
Why God chose to make him the father of the nation of Israel, I have no idea.

The one that says the sky is a dome with water over it. Or where it says the sun runs around the earth like an athlete.

I like Paul's conversion story...how Jesus confronted him right in the middle of the road and made himself real before his eyes. Kind of like he did with me. I didn't see sparks or fireworks, but he couldn't be more real either way. :)
