This video might be able to answer some of those questions!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YMXuaqNLeSU

Or if you would like to pass this along to people (christians) that have questions (or are making false accusations) about wicca.

*BTW she says "Wicca" when reffering to the ancient religious beliefs of our ancestors, which is wrong. Just so you know Wicca is a young religion it does Not pre-date christianity, The magical/religious practices of the Wiccan people Do pre-date christianity though, but not wicca its self*

Thank you!

I thought I should make a few comments on this, particularly to the other answers and a little towards the video.

Wicca is a very complex faith created in the 1930's by a British civil servant named Gerald Gardner, combining various ancient concepts and a syncretic view of the divine that is quite different than really any religion before or after it.
It was not created by Raymond Buckland, and Aleister Crowley really had very little to do with the creation of Wicca other than his writings were some influence on Gardner. Buckland did however bring Wicca to the US in the 1960's.

Wicca also has its roots in Masonic practices, ceremonial magic, and the Romantic era's ideas of classical religions. It does take a lot of influence from more ancient beliefs, including Celtic and Etruscan, but it is not in itself ancient. Though Wicca is a newer religion, only about 70 years old, it is not less real and no less spiritual than any other religion. This partly comes from the Wiccan view of the divine.

Wiccans revere the immanent in nature symbolized in the form of a Goddess and a God who are seen as equal to each other. The view is syncretic, Wiccans see all goddesses as aspects of the "Goddess" and all gods as aspects of the "God." The God and Goddess are see as manifestations of divine energy that symbolize the cycles or nature, life and death, and the seasons of the year.

Many Wiccans practice witchcraft, which they see as working with the Divine energy that permeates the world to bring about change, but the vast majority of Wiccans will not curse or perform magic to bring harm upon anyone else. However, the two terms are often confused. Witchcraft and Wicca are not synonymous. Wicca is a religion. Magick is a concept involving the use of personal energy and focused intent. Witchcraft is a practice in the use of magick that can be used by someone of any religion or someone with no religion at all. Though many Wiccans also practice witchcraft and are witches, not all witches are Wiccan and not all Wiccans practice witchcraft.

Blessed Be,

That was an interesting video. I will share the link with the next person that asks me a Wicca related question that I cannot answer.

As for the "ancient religion" bit... I appreciate your honesty! I've been told by many "Wiccans" (Note the quotations) that the religion is as old as druidism, and predates Christianity. It's nice to see someone that actually has a bit of knowledge about the subject! True Wiccans will admit that the religion itself was put together by Buckland (With Crowley's help) in the 1930's. Though I understand that the general practices are taken from much older practices.

Good job trying to educate the masses without throwing it down their throat or making malicious comments.

-EDIT- luvjeska, I realize my error, and thank you for pointing it out! It was indeed Gardner... I was thinking about different "branches" of Wicca... but again, thank you for noticing and taking the time to correct me! =)

Yes, why did I recieve such quotes from one in email? Are these the typical beliefs of Wiccans?

"Deep down. I question the absoluteness of anything. Therefore, i can't say that murder is wrong."

"I mentioned it because i knew your black and white logic would fall into the trap of thinking that I said that torture was completely wrong."

"You can't judge good and evil for the whole of society."

"What you consider to be good works for your church , I might consider a violation of people's rights and therefore not good. You can only interpret good and evil for yourself."

"I understand your God, I just don't agree with the concept. I found a better way."

If she is any representative of what it means to be a wiccan, it is chillingly scary and anti-Christ.

I do wish those who want to push forward their religion would take the time to learn the vocabulary and time line of their Religions. On the flip side I do wish those who constantly denigrate a religion or give supposed information about a religion would learn the vocabulary, time line, and read some books by people of the religion rather than books by people of their religion writing about the religion your religion wants to denigrate.

The above is a rather close concept and critique of many of those on R&S..

Here is a question.

Are you concerned that you are displeasing to God for promoting this and will be judged for it if you do not repent?
