ok so this summer i really got into smoking...i stop around the time school starts....
so hears the deal...i wanted to try a little experiment
i was going to see if it really is addicting...so my hypotheses was that it doesn't have a mental addiction but it has a physical addiction. so for 7 nights i was going to smoke. and i did by the 4th night i couldn't sleep i need it to fall asleep. the 6th night was the worst it felt like i HAD to smoke to sleep...so then i did 7 days of waking up at 8 am to smoke...by the 4th morning i didn't even need my alarm to wake me up...i would just wake up at 8 no later no earlier....so came to conclusion that it doesn't form a mental addiction but it dose cause a physical one ur body gets used to he drug and if feels like it needs it to go on....i harldy smoke now...doing this experiment showed me that drugs are addicting even the "safe ones"

I believe it depends on your personality! If one is predisposed to an addictive personality; then yes its physically(sweats) or mentally addictive(anxiety). For me personally, I felt it was physically addictive. For about a couple of days I had the sweats, was easily irritated and had brief moments of anxiety. Also was easily verbally explosive in an argument. I was smoking about a half an ounce a week for about a decade. Give or take! I like it allot and began to depend on it ritualistically as most user I know. Who virtually light up about the same time every night. To the point were it altered their attitude negatively if they were excessively late for their fix. While I believe it is not as bad as alcohol, I do believe most people mislead themselves to its side effects and adictability. I also agree with you, People perceive weed as a safe habit. It really is not. Maybe a lesser of the major illegal drugs or even legal ones. It still has its negative effects on you, those around you and your health. You are absolutely right. I have been clean for a year. Still that being said it was easier to quite smoking weed, then cigarettes. Allot easier!
Peace!!! Love!!! Health!!! Harmony!!!

Sure, your body can get used to it and get used to a routine, but did you actually get physically ill? Get the shakes? Cold sweats?
Real addiction is caused when the body actually starts to shut down if it doesnt have that drug that its gotten so dependent on.
For instance, an alcoholic can seriously have a stroke if their body goes into relapse.

That is why major addicts will most likely need some sort of medical treatment when they havent gotten their fix.

I've never heard of anyone having an actual physical melt down when they havent smoked pot.

Also take into consideration that there are a lot of people out there that are dependent on something.
Take for instance coffee.
There are morbidely obese people that cant stop eating.
etc.

I agree. I smoked marijuana for more than 10 years, and when I got married and wanted to become pregnant ... I quit and haven't missed it one lil' bit.

When I did smoke it, it was physically addictive. Nothing seemed like fun without a toke first. Anything that required energy, I had to have a toke before tackling it. Many will say it's not physically addicting, but, I know better ... I've been there. :(

Yes it is addicting, the only bad thing about this drug is if you are working at a place that does random drug screening you are screwed. Not to mention u get the munchies and get lazy what kind of life is that. give it up. Good Luck!!!

IT IS addictive. I have a friend who started smoking it, gradually using a bong, at the age of 12. He's now 24 and it literally ruined his life. It affects his temper, highs and lows, his concentration and, in short, his life. He tries every now and then to stop but he gets in an awful mood, so much so, I wish he would go and smoke it to stop the aggravations.

It's not physically addictive. Your body doesn't need it, you brain THINKS your body needs it. It's a mental dependence, not an addiction. Use a little will power, or restrict your access to it, and you get over it.

Some people have addicting personalities. I'm not addicted to it, but my sis can't go two days without lighting up.

Marijuana is NOT physically addictive. Your body gets used to anything though, and when you stop, your body responds. If your mind has told your body that you are getting up at a certain time every day to do something, your body gets used to that. I suggest re-doing your experiment, but replace smoking weed with something that will have an effect on your body, but is not considered a drug. I dunno, a huge glass of orange juice.

Yes, marijuana is an addictive drug. Not addictive in the sense that you'll vomit and have seizures if you stop taking it, but addictive because your body experiences withdrawals when you stop taking it... as you proved.
