I was looking up some information about Quakers, and it seems to me that they are perfect. I love there four principles, Peace, Equality, Integrity, and Simplicity. And unlike religions, they do not have any unbelievable stories from the past. And no weird rituals. That only bad thing I've read about them is that married couples sleep in separate beds, but I pretty sure that's just a rumor. Any input?

I sure can identify with Quakers. Every spiritual test I find says I am a Quaker at heart. They seem to be the most level headed and peaceful religion around.

I think the Quakers have it all figured out (as opposed to some of the others). I went to a Quaker college and it was a WONDERFUL experience. The atmosphere there was non- judgmental, accepting, open, charitable. It was Guilford College in NC and as far as the seperate sleeping thing - I have no idea.

Actually, it sounds like you know very little about them at all...basically less than what is on the Wikipedia page for them. I'd suggest you attend some Quaker meetings...do some reading (books, not internet sites) and learn.

To find a meeting, highlight your state http://www.quaker.org/meetings.html

for a good list of recommended reading for those wanting to know about the Friends http://www.quaker.org/book-list.html

Personally, I find their religion a little odd in that they don't seem to know what they believe in...and some (in the US and UK) even consider themselves atheists or agnostics. Some groups seem to be rather loosely constructed and some seem to be almost cultish.

The only thing that comes to mind is Nixon, I think he was a Quaker.

If you're able to decide what's "perfect" by reading something about a particular group, Quakers or Fruit-cakes or whatever, why do you have to bother reasearching in the first place? Are you looking for a group to belong to just to have a name attached to who you are and what you think?

Stand up and be counted as an individual who thinks for himself - you apparently have the ability to discriminate wisely, so put it to use.

I've never really heard anything negative about them. For a second I thought you were asking about the Puritans, I was going to ask if you had read The Scarlet Letter.

Only thing that sticks out to me is the lack of deodorant skills. They tend to be ripe with B.O. at times. Ohh wait...that is the Amish, not the Quakers.

I thought they were celibate.

And they quake. That's a weird ritual.

If they don't do that anymore then they've lost their connection to their roots and they're probably not real Quakers.
