Would you think I was lying to you?

I would not believe you. And I am NOT Catholic. The book that explains the beast is free at the site below. Here is an excerpt:

The “beast” represents a political and social design established by the societies of humankind to satisfy the desires of human nature. This design “stands upon the sand of the sea,” meaning it covers the entire earth, as the “sand of the sea” represents the people of the earth.

The unquenchable desire for money, materialism, and worldly comforts to satiate human lust, is what the “beast” offers the “woman.” The governments and democracies (“ten horns”) of the world (“seven heads”/continents) are set up to please those whom they govern. When a democracy reigns with power, its sole purpose is to satisfy the wants of the constituents who support it. It cares nothing for the mandates of God (“the name of blasphemy”), which would create equality by providing for the needs of all people of the earth.

The purpose of the “beast” is to allow for and provide the material wants and lusts of the heart (“a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast”).

I understand all of Revelation now.

Yes, I would.

Rev 13:17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.
Rev 13:18 This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.

Before the invention of figures by the Arabs, in the tenth century, letters of the alphabet were used for numbers. The Greeks in the time of Homer, or soon after, are thought by some to have assigned to their letters a numerical value corresponding to their order in the alphabet. If you are familiar with the Greek of the New Testament, an argument can be made that the 666 is an allusion to Emperor Nero. Just as easily an argument can be made that the 666 refers to a "Latin Power" or, the Roman Catholic Church, Julius Caeser Atheus, Luther, and others.

As you can see from the above, there is no consensus on the interpretation. The antichrist is figurative, not a literal person, but a body of belief that denies Jesus is the Christ, the second person of the Triune God.

1Jn 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
1Jn 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.

I presume you are talking about the Roman Catholic church. The word Catholic means universal. Some authorities regard Rome (and its church) as the harlot mentioned in Revelation 17:1; because of the comment in 17:9 about the seven mountains 'on which the woman sits'. And in verse 18 it says “The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.” So it would not appear that the Roman church was/is/going to be the beast.

Seeing as how the Catholic church is responsible for all but the 'orthodox' versions of the bible, I would have to say that you were lying.

Seriously, study the history of the bible. The council of Nicea was held by the catholic church (the mainstream version of the faith at the time). There is no way that the catholics would include a book that proclaimed it to be 'the beast'. The beast, as I stated in a previous question of yours, refers to the emperors of Rome.

EDIT: You chose to do this via email...I'm going to take it public. If you study the history of christianity, the Roman Catholic church is the foundation of all sects of christianity. The so-called Apostolic Church (supposedly run by the Apostles themselves), adapted and changed, becoming the Catholic Church (with the apostle Peter as the first pope). It is nothing less than astounding that fundamentalists choose to abandon the roots of their faith, simply because this history is not mentioned in the bible. Do some research, because yes, you are indeed, lying.

Actually Michael, the catholic church is the Whore that sits on the beast. that you will find in Revelations 17 and 19. And it's pope at the time of the end, will be the false prophet that works with the false prophet.

Yes I do agree with you. And not only Catholic but all the churches who are born under her....protestant, orthodox, anglican churches too. The church which really stand for the coming for christ only is the real church. It is not a denomination, but a people from different nation, culture, dialect.

Why is everyone bashing Catholics? Roman Catholicism is the largest sect (roughly 1.1 billion members), and the longest lasting sect of Christianity. If Catholics beleive and worship God, why would we be the beast?

Not necessarily. Lying means recognizing that what you are saying is utterly ludicrous, and saying it anyway - intentional misinformation. The poor misguided fools who make claims like this don't even know how idiotic their beliefs are, so we can't really accuse them of lying. We can only pity them and pray for them.
