A myth is a religious legend. A legend is something that is passed down through oral teachings for hundreds or thousands of years until it is finally written down. Myths may have some truth to them, but basically they are not historical narratives.

A belief is a conviction in something, often of a debatable issue.

Myth is a sacred story, but it is only in modern pejorative usage that it has come to mean "false story." This is not implied in the meaning of the word.

Belief is a single or a set of personal truths.

A 'myth' is a made-up story that was once taken to be 'true'... but has since been shown to be false... you know... like the Wholly Babble.

'Belief' is the ILLUSION of knowledge... i.e., self-delusion.
