I'm about a year away from graduating from high school, and I'm joining the army no questions asked, unless I'm not physically ready. What are are good specific workouts and foods to help me ? I'm a 250 lbs ex- football player (No muscles, I blocked because I'm big ), with a mild case of asthma. Just want to know some good workouts (specific)
that will ease my lungs and get them ready for the drill sergeants, and what I should eat to help me lose the weight.

They will get you ready.. the only thing you need to do it meet weight requirements before going into the recruiters office.
Find out what weight you need to be at in order to join. They will weigh you and tape you if you are overweight. If you make tape then they will still let you join, if not you need to slim up.
I would be wary about lifting alot of weights, the added muscle can be detrimental to your weight loss efforts. I would start by changing your diet to something filling, yet healthy. No more cheeseburgers and fries kiddo.
Once you get to your projected weight then you can start balancing exercise with your diet.
Another tip to help you lose weight...
Take your three dailty meals and split the amount in half. Instead of eating 3 times a day eat 6 times a day. This will speed up your metabolism, helping you to burn calories easier and without as much physical work.
Good luck Soldier, hope to see you in my ranks someday!!

Additionally: DO NOT lie about your asthma. They can waiver you in. If you lie then you face charges of fradulent enlistment, and not only that, it will be only a short amount of time before they will find out the truth through vigorous exercise in BCT.

I am in the Army, i was very athletic when i went in, but not much of anything you do will get you to prepared for it. You are so tired at times and hot/cold that no matter how fit you are it gets hard. The instructors start slow and you work your way up. A lot of people can not do 1 push up, i.e. myself, when they enter in and by the end you will have done so many that you could do them in your sleep. I would defiantly say you need to start eating a healthy diet. Not go on a diet so much, but cut out greasy fried foods and a lot of soda, these things cause bad cramps and are just not good for you period. The military has weight standards based on your height and body fat so you should probably go ahead and go to a recruiter so they can tell you what your ideal weight is to get in that way in the next year you can be preparing for that. It is not as bad as you are thinking! Worry about getting through high school and your education and having fun...you will be fine, but i would for sure go and see how much if any weight you need to lose, because you don't want to get there and be ready to go and get flagged for ship off because of weight. Good luck!

You gotta run...a lot. A lot of my friends are ROTC/Marines/Airforce and all they complain about is running, pushups, and situps so do a ton of them. Also prepare to experience and survive/perform under very little sleep and energy. If you want to lose weight, then decrease your caloric intake by not eating as much. However, when you do eat, make sure you take in more protein than carbohydrates(although they are just as important). I'm sure whey protein could be a supplement before and after workouts. Since you're football, this probably isn't new to you. Good luck with the Army.

You will be tested on a two mile run, and as many pushups and situps as you can do in two minutes. You will also need to be able to wake up, have a shower (which might be cold if you're not one of the first ones in) and be dressed and outside in about five minutes.

How tall are you? You may weigh too much as is.
Run, Pushups and Situps, lots of them.
Get into a gym and start working out with weights, upper body and abs with some leg work.
Walk for miles
