A person can attain salvation in only one way. Are you sure you really want to know how to do it? Think carefully before you read on, because this will be THE most important decision you will ever make in this life.

OK, now that you've made your decision, here it is. You can attain salvation by: 1) HEARING the Word of God, Romans 10:17. That doesn't mean that you just pick any church out of a hat, you have to find a church that sticks with the Bible, book, chapter and verse, with NO deviations. 2) You must BELIEVE what you've heard, Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 11:6. You can ask questions, and express opinions, but the final word will be what the Bible says. 3) You must REPENT of your sins, Luke 13:3. You may not think of yourself as a sinner, but me, you and EVERYONE reading this has sinned at one time or another in this life (Psalms 116:11, Romans 3:23). Even if you've told a "white lie", that is considered a sin by God, and all liars have their place in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). 4) You must CONFESS Jesus to be the Son of God, Matthew 10:32-33, and 5) You MUST Be BAPTIZED, Acts 2:38, 8:37-38.

Not too many people on Y!A talk about baptism, but it is VERY important and essential in becoming a Christian. One cannot become a Christian without it. Jesus himself was baptized in the Jordan River (Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:29-34) as an example for us to follow. You cannot be sprinkled with water or have water poured on you. You have to go down into much water, and be submerged fully; then, when you come up out of the water, you are a new creature in Christ, the old man (sin) is put off and a new man (Christian) is put on (2 Corinthians 5:17).

After you have done these five steps, there is still one more thing: You have to remain FAITHFUL to Christ, Acts 2:42, Revelation 2:10. This won't be easy, as the Devil will have realized that you've "gone over to the other team", so to speak, and he will be mad and frantic and will do his best dirt to get you back to him (1 Peter 5:8).

Now that you have read all this, do you still want to attain salvation? Because if you do, find a Church of Christ in your area, and have someone sit with you and explain all that I've told you in greater detail. Ask whatever questions you may have, and be sure to get a Bible answer. I will be praying for you.

God has to draw you to Jesus and give you the gift of faith through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit to believe on the sacrifice that Jesus made on your behalf.

John 6:43 Jesus answered them, "Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

1. I must realize that in my present condition I am a sinner before God. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3.23.)
2. I cannot save myself from eternal punishment in hell "For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord: (Romans 6:23)
3. Christ has paid for my sins and my punishment with His death on the cross. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus should not perish, but have everlasting life: "(John 3:16)
4. I must accept His crucifixion as payment for my sins, personally. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)
If you would like to have assurance of eternal life, then pray this prayer: "Lord, I know I am a sinner. I believe Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and make me a new person. I commit my life to you today. Amen,"
If you prayed this prayer you can send for Dr. Stanley's booklet, "The Only Door to Heaven." www.intouch.org.
When you are saved, you are sealed with God's Holy Spirit for eternity. You cannot loose your salvation because you are now adopted into the family of God.
It is important to find a bible teaching church and become part of the body of Christ to help you grow in your walk with the Lord. Read the Bible daily.

By grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. Not by works (Eph 2:8,9 Titus 3:5) We have to know we have sinned (broken God's law whether lying or stealing), sin has a price, and Christ took the punishment for our sin. If we choose to ask for forgiveness, we have a clean slate that makes us eligible for heaven. Sweet deal, aint it?!
