Why didn't he just make it like it is now? Electricity, internet, insane technology, the works.

Then what would the human have done to confirm and establish their dominion over this planet? Our intellegence is what made us climb to the top, without anything to do with it, it wouldn't hhave been long before the human fell to the wayside of some predator

That is a common theory about how Atlantis could relate to the Bible, Atlantis was said to be a never ending continent and also the Egyptians found the tale on a stone.
Noah Arks was written on a stone. Also, the time of the Flood some theologians agree that there was one continent and that when the water erupted from the earth that it split the continents...
So, the theory is that man at the time was more advanced than we are, and used that to become more sinful and thus God destroyed them and started over with Noah and made him rid of the advanced knowledge...
Whether or not that is true is up for debate....
