I really want to get to know the cast but i'm afraid that i won't fit in like my dear, "friend" does. I love musicals but i'm not social. Plus my "friends" family might be in the musical so that makes it worse. Should i aduition or be in the audince??!!
I want to meet the cast but i already know that we won't be close beacuse I've been to thier camps. I DON'T KNOW!!!
I'm so confused!!
Please someone give me advice or tell we what i should do!!!
If i don't go and my "friend" does, I'll regret it forever!!
But if i do go, I'll be stuck there for hours of the days for months
if something goes wrong. Help me!! Say what u think!!! Please the aduitions are in September!!!!!!!

Yes!!! I really LOVE musicals! I want to be on Broadway someday!! These people i'm talking about are very nice. I CAN DANCE!!! Tapdancing to be exact! It's just, i've always felt crud next to my friend for she argues about EVERYTHING!! She even tells me how to dance "even though she forgot the dance on stage." I really want to be part of this cast. I want to fit in and i want to dance!! The cast are the ones that turned me on for musicals!! But, my friend has to tell me that she's right and i'm wrong about everything!!!
SEE....
I love musicals
Want to be and meet the rest of the cast
Friend always puts me down
and i'm very VERY shy, stressed and nervous
I have issues LOL
ugh......

There are people in this world that are always like "If only I had done this or that" You should go because you only get one chance at life. Don't die having regrets.

Would you jump off a bridge just because everyone else did?

I'd say to only audition if you REALLY want to and honestly, it sounds like that you have no interest in doing so. The judges are going to know if you're really interested or not. This is because they'll notice your whole attitude towards the whole thing. It will be reflected in your voice as well. So, if you don't really want to do the show, then don't audition. You CAN try out for shows later on in life whether it would be next year, in college, or even for a local community theater ensemble.

If you still want to be involved with the musical, but not necessarily be on stage, then there are other things you can do. These can range from ticket/advertisement sales, playing in the pit orchestra, being on the tech crew (creating backdrops, doing lights, preparing scene changes, etc), advertising for the musical in your newspapers, etc. This will all look good if you do decide to audition for a musical in the near future, especially if you do have a musical and acting background. Most directors would greatly appreciate the help, so just ask!

Also, please keep in mind that REAL friends don't go rubbing their business into other friend's faces. If your friend does this, then tell her to stop. Instructors for the show do not want to put up with the snobbery either as it's considered very unprofessional.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I can't help noticing that your question says very little about music or the play itself--sounds as it's more about being part of what you perceive as the "in group", but you're not really comfortable with them: you just don't want your "friend" (quotation marks noted) to lord it over you if she passes the audition & your don't.

If, as you say, you love musicals, & you are a good singer, go ahead & audition. If you're not a good singer, volunteer for one of the backstage positions that suits your talents. Otherwise, I'd say you need to find something you really like to do & make some real friends w/ no quotation marks.

I think you should go for it. Maybe you might start liking doing this type of stuff.. I used to be really shy... And I wanted to open up a club at my high school... I didn't know if I would have the guts to do it... But I did, I opened up the club and now I'm able to speak in front of thousands of people with a lot of charisma... I think you should go for it... Because if you don't, you'll regret it... It's worth trying.. And... As for your "friend," you should feel comfortable enough with him or her to discuss this issue. True friends will listen and help you out. If it's really a problem about his or her rubbing it in... I'm pretty sure he or she will stop once you tell them that you feel uncomfortable with it... Good luck with the auditions.... KNOCK 'EM DEAD! and I hope everything works out for you in the end...

I would jump out of the bridge too, because it bad being lonely. It doesn't matter if you want to or don't want to or what the problem ares. I say you do it, because I've learned that the more I audition is the more i become better at it. Just be better at it, but still not good enough. So do it again until you good. Human learn from everything they do, so do it. Surprise everyone.

It sounds to me like you won't really enjoy it if you're in the musical, so I say, stay in the audience. There's no reason for you to do something you won't like because your friend is doing it.

Your friend has to understand your reason if you don't participate, and if they hold it against you, they aren't a person you should be associating with anyway. If they really are a good friend, they'll be fine with it. The only reason they wouldn't be is if they weren't truly your friend.

Well i think you should audition anyway. believe me, i used to be very shy, but going onstage helped me to open up

you'll make friends there, don't worry
