I use and recommend Colgate Total (any flavor)

It has an extra ingredient in it: triclosan- which is antibacterial and creates a protective film. This "protective film" stays on your teeth for up to 12 hours and lessens the amount of bacteria that can attach to your teeth. The teeth are literally too slippery!

And as you already know- less bacteria = less puffy gums.

If you want to use a mouthwash- the only one I recommend is Listerine (it actually does what it says and also contains ingredients essential to kill off bacteria).

Also, I realize you're asking for a toothpaste recommendation- but I'll also make a recommendation on how to best use it ;D... you'll want to floss first, and then brush. That way the fluoride and triclosan can attach directly onto the tooth surface and not onto plaque...

Hope this helps!!

Switching your toothpaste is not going to fix your problem. You really need to go have your teeth cleaned every six months and brush and floss your teeth twice a day. Having puffy gums is a sign of gum disease. You should really go see your dentist.

Geez, they sound like they are inflamed.

Infections in the gums can cause problems in your heart. I had an infection in my heart's mitral valve, and the doctor said it probably came in through my gums.

Use a warm salt water gargle frequently until you can see your dentist. Brush gently after every meal, and floss. At my cardiac rehab (I had a triple bypass), they said "Floss, or DIE".

My wife was a dental assistant. She says gargle with Scope or Listerine three times a day, get to a dentist, and follow instructions.

If you are pregnant you may have pregnancy gingivitis. Floss every day and try Crest Pro Health or Colgate Total. Also the Sonicare tooth brush is fantastic!!

Flossing is good for puffy gums- and a trip to the dental hygienist to get caled to rid yourself of what causes the inflammation- tarter and plaque.
