Kayleigh,
I have to tell you the truth. When I was 12, I was 5'6" and 116 lbs. I didn't look fat, though, and wasn't wearing "fat people" clothes. But I wasn't eating right or exercising either. Eventually I did get fat (I'm 45 now).
So now is a good time for you to decide what kind of eating and exercise habits you want to have for the future. Go easy on the soda and processed sugar, and eat every kind of fruit or veggie that you like. At least walk 20 minutes a day, but better to jog a mile or two. If not, try pilates or yoga. If I can do pilates, you can, too. If you can get to class two different ways and still be on time, take the long way.
You're not overweight yet, sweetie, but in 6 months, that could change. You decide.

You have a wonderful weight maybe a little thin, but most girls want to be thin.
Is it a good healthy weight for you??
Well, every answer on here is just a guess
the only way to know is to know your body composition, which means fat vs muscle, like if you are a trained athlete running on a cross-country team, you are probably lean and muscular for that weight
OTH if you never lift a finger and ride everywhere in cars then you are probably low fitness and even though you are not at all heavy you may have an undesirable ratio of fat to lean
plus, keep in mind that your bone structure depends a lot on getting weight-bearing exercise (that just means supporting your own body weight like walking) otherwise you can have greater chance of problems with osteoporosis as you age into your middle years
If you are healthy and fit and enjoy physical activity that is a better judge than just your weight.

Well, at 13, who really knows what an average weight might be because your body is really transitioning from child to adult. You have all kinds of hormones working that change your body so you may not have entered a growth spurt and other kids your age may already have started that. But for 5'6", 117 is really quite thin, whether a boy or a girl. My suggestion is that you eat a wide variety of foods, drink a couple glasses of milk a day, snack healthy on fruits, vegetables and yogurt, have a candy bar here and there, don't overeat fast foods or packaged snack foods we all love, don't drink sugared sodas; eat 3 meals a day, a couple of snacks, get plenty exercise and sunshine, and most important, enjoy being a kid. Love yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your build. Hugs. Hold your head up high and be proud of who you are.

Go to http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html and fill in your statistics. Then click on Calculate, and scroll down for a graph showing you what catagory your weight fits. That is an excellent website for teens and provides a lot of good information on this topic. (The safe BMI range is not the same for teens as it is for adults.)
I can tell you right now that your weight is well within the safe range, neither underweight nor overweight. You should visit the website with your mom, so she knows the situation along with you.

Are you kidding?!? That is perfect! I hope that someone didn't tell you different. The classic comparison is 100 lbs for the first 5 ft and 5 lbs for every inch taller (for women). Always consider the muscle/fat ratio. I'm 5'3 and 135 - size 5/6. People always ask me where I hide it! Weight isn't always a good measure of health/fitness...

I'm 15 and about the same height! 117 pounds is a little low on the average side, but you are pretty much perfect.
If you have any more questions just ask!

OK...and let me vent for a second...I am so tired of little girls thinking that they are overweight when they aren't. If u want to know about your weight for sure, search for a BMI calculator on Yahoo. Follow the instructions and it will tell you what the deal is. The BMI calculator is what doctors use to tell average weight. Dont listen to any stupid twitt that is going to tell you that you are overweight... OK?
