I think it's about 97% safe. It should say so on the box that the condoms come in. You should always use a condom anyway, whether or not you're on birth control because birth control doesn't prevent STD's.

You are still covered, but there are more chances for something to go wrong.
Condoms can break or leak. Birth control is the best way to go, but condoms work most of the time. I think their rate of effectiveness is around 95 or 96 %

Better than nothing but not as effective as birth control and neither are as effective as abstinence.
Depends on what you are trying to prevent.
Disease or pregnancy.
Condoms are not I repeat not 100% eeffective at stopping disease or pregnancy. But not using one in this day and age is stupid.
Some protection is better than none at all.
Best advice is look over your partner real good and if things don't look right abort the mission.
Hard to do in the heat of the moment but 20 minutes of pleasure isn't worth a life time of regret.

they are only as safe as the one who wears them and keeps them fresh in stock. Don't use one guys carry out of their billfold. Heat wears them down and they can break easily.
They actually have a women's condom out now that is reusable. Just wash & dry out. Go to the doctor and ask for a prescription for it. They are a polypropelene and easy to insert, they feel like a natural experience for the man when you use it with a gel. No worries and a whole lot of fun to try out!
The reason they work is because they are shaped just like a condom, but the ring acts like a barrier that stays on the outside of the cavity. Not only will you not get pregnant, it deters any transmissions of any diseases from partner (s).
You might try look up Talksexwithsue.com and see what she might have on there. She is an elderly lady who is an advisor on sex and the acts of sex to make it more pleasurable and safer.
I watch her on Oh! channel here on Sunday nights around 11 p.m. That is where she demonstrated the condom and explained how it was effective. (Not physically...but by a pictorial view!) Very educational! Good luck!

The only thing 100% effective is not having sex, so every contraceptive has a slight risk.
I've been with my husband since I was sixteen (I'm now almost 32). We used condoms for the first ten years of our relationship and I didn't fall pregnant. We have two children, both of whom were planned, and we still use condoms now.
We've had two condoms break, I think, but got lucky and I didn't fall pregnant.

The are fairly effective; however, there are two major problems with them: bursting and coming off. Nothing is 100%, especially when it comes to having sex. If the female is fertile, all the birth control in the world comes to naught.
Complete abstinance is the only sure thing.

Condoms are theoretically 98% effective. Taking human error into account, however, they are only 90-95% effective. However, when used in conjunction with a spermicidal foam or jelly, they are 95-97% effective

Not you are not covered, if pregnancy is the issue condoms slip out often and many people don't know when the condom is out, protection against std's is even less

Most guys don't apply them right. Read the instructions on the box and teach every guy you have sex with. Seriously, almost all of them are doing something wrong with condom application.
