you have to register it with the Virginia department of motor vehicles within 30 days.

i know a guy here in California who had his car registered in Oregon to save on registration, taxes, insurance, etc...

but the law caught up with him and had to pay a fine.

nothing major, but it was a hassle.

If VA is your permanent address now, then it is. I think you have 30 days to change your drivers license and the plates. the exception is if you are in the military. Good luck.
