Jugni' is a term created by the late ALAM LOHAR a great punjabi singer from pakistan . He created the concept of jugni in 1965. The concept of jugni was one of a spiritual one relating to a persons understanding of the world and needs or wants with God. However this has been altered by subsequent singers after Alam Lohar where jugni is described as an innocent girl.

It's a type of music from Northern India.
BTW, since jugni is a masculine word, it can't mean woman anyway. (-i is a masculineword, -a is a feminine word)

Apart from the use of the word as a name, it refers to folk songs, the other vaieties being Mahiya and Tappe. If you have not heard the latter from Chitra-Jagjit Singh duo, then you do not know what you have missed.
