If you live in a poor country it is impossible to get a visa to live where you want... but if you are from a rich country you can travel whereever you want.
All the time Americans and Western Europeans move to poorer countries because it is cheaper for them..
But they complain when a Mexican wants to live and work in the USA to improve themselves.
Why it is not fair and double standards

➔ Immigration
People from poor countries are not a drain on resources. They move abroad to WORK. They add to the economy. And often do the types of jobs the natives can't be bothered to do.
Without immigration many countries like the USA would be nothing.
Whilst many from rich countries, can actually be a drain. Many emmigrate to retire and use the poorer country's health resources. And you have those who go to countries with laxer laws, and take advantage, and do things like abuse young women that wouldn't be allowed in the USA.
Or you have hippies that break the laws and don't work and just take drugs.
(#NOTE# I'm not saying all immigrants from richer countries do that. I know that is a minority. I'm just saying you can't say that just because someone is from a rich country they are good immigrants and those from poor are not)

If a poor person from a poor type country is given a visa to enter and live in a richer type country chances are they will become a financial burden to that country. Is it that country's responsibility to assume such costs? no, it is the tax payer that would have to foot the bill. That is why those with money can live basically where they want. It is not a case of "fair". It is unfortunate there is such inequalities in the world. If you as an individual want to go else where to live you must look at the whole picture. You would be in a country without family support or any connections. That is not always bad, but some must have family around them. Find out what is required to emigrate to wherever and go after it, don't complain about it do everything you have to to make it happen.

What is really unfair is that rich investors in America pay only 15% in taxes while the middle class may pay as much as 50% after employment and sales taxes, which is higher than Canada (and they don't even get any healthcare for that).
Countries that choose to take rich Americans do so of their own choice. There are only a few places like North Korea, Sudan or Zimbabwe that tend to treat rich Americans with disdain.
But most of the world is an equal opportunity place when money is concerned. A Mexican who invests $500,000 in a qualifying US business can get immigration here fairly quickly too.

No one has any problem at all with anyone from any country entering the US legally. The problem is when people feel they can live here illegally. When rich people travel they do not get permanent visas, only visitor passes. Why should we as US citizens let illegal immigrants live and work here when they are nothing more but a drain on the American economy. They are a drain on our health care system, our judicial system, our economy. Get a job in your own country and improve yourself. I don't see any double standards here. You are biased and incorrect.

There's no double-standard; it's all about the law. If Mexicans can immigrate to the US legally, more power to them. Unfortunately, because of the broken immigration system we have, this is a daunting task -- my heart goes out to all the poor Mexicans being shoved out of their own country by their corrupt government. Nevertheless, the law is the law, and the fact of the matter is, if you have money, you have more freedom. It's a sad state of affairs, but it's the world we live in, and I doubt it'll get much better.

There's a difference between legally moving to a country and bringing wealth into it, than illegally entering a country working there and stretching the social welfare system. Lets be honest were talking about Mexicans. What do you think happens when an illegal works construction somewhere and breaks his leg? His "white boss" drops him off at the hospital and says see ya. No workers comp nothing!! Do you think all the fruit pickers are getting proper OSHA training and fair work hours. You do realize that most of theses workers are just be exploited by our economy right? You also realize that the Mexican government will continue to do nothing to help its own economic system while enough of their citizens can scrape by here right? I have nothing against people coming here to make a living but you are very Naive to think it is that easy to get a work permit in another country. ( do you know that it cost 5 grand here for a green card try making that washing dishes) Our immigration is a mess, every country needs to limit how many unskilled workers can enter their country and workers must be legal otherwise they are just exploited.

Because the rich that retire to poorer countries contribute to the economy. Those who are coming here to "make a better life for themselves" are a drain on the economy because they use massive amounts of government aid and devalue the dollar in the process.

It's not fair but its what people want, more money rotating around their country.
Most people believe that poor people steal jobs (when they actually earn them), and then send the money to their countries. Although this is true, having the money sent there helps their home country and prevent more illegals from comming for money.
They also don't like poor people because they think they are all criminals. They are so biased that they believe people come from elsewhere just to rob them blind.
They also think people immigrate just to take free benefits. This is untrue since you need to be legal in order to obtain those benefits.
In otherwords...people from poor countried have it bad because of ignorance.

Well, not all those living in rich countries are rich. Millions in rich countries are NOT rich and cannot go where they want. I'm surrounded by Americans who can't even afford a trip to Canada or Mexico. They couldn't afford to hire a smuggler. Some are in the same boat the poor in other countries are in. Will Mexico allow a poor non-Hispanic American to live there after sneaking in? NO. Let one sneak into Mexico and see what happens, imprisonment, rape, deportation. Mexico has strict immigration laws and they ENFORCE them (to their credit). The only ones wanting a nation of poor people to invade their country is BIG business, they want slave labor for slave wages to compete with China and India. Hard luck swings both ways, hard luck is nationality and color blind.

People who bring money when they move and make high wages pay more into taxes than they take out in services. People who make little take out more in services like education than they can ever pay in taxes. Plus all the poor want to move to the rich countries - why is that? Because the rich countries subsidize services for the poor. Their better life is at the expense of the rich country's citizens.

Because rich people can support themselves and poor people require welfare programs. Also a poor person is much more likely to carry disease and have other special needs. It is unfair to force a country to cope with with all the issues involved with an impoverished population that they had no hand in creating.
It is also inaccurate to say anyone from a wealthy country can live in a poor country at will. Because you are over looking the fact that just because someone is from a "wealthy" country that they are all wealthy.
Face it, Mexico has some of the wealthiest people in the world and yet the general population is poor. What about America's poor? Is it fair to force them to compete for jobs with people who will work for less than a living wage? Is it fair to let people work under the table and not pay taxes when there are just as many impoverished Americans who DO pay taxes?
