Be patient, gentle & persistent with them, it might take awhile & some mice just don't want to trust humans @ all.
We have 2 girls who have lived here for nearly 18 months. One of them has gradually got to the point where I can pet her with my finger a little & she happilly eats from my hand & even comes to the front of the cage when she sees me. The other girl is still so scared of me that even when I hold out an irresistable treat, she closes her eyes really tight, grabs the food as fast as she can & runs. It's cute & sad @ the same time. One of our cats (who the mice are *not* afraid of btw) knocked their cage over last week & I had to hold the more frightened girl while my SO put the cage back together. I hoped she'd finally have the idea that humans are her friends, but she's still nervous as ever.
Now the good news-- many mice do become friendly & affectionate toward their ppl. We had one girl who was so sweet & playful that she was almost like a tiny rat instead of a mouse-- I'd put my hand in the cage to refill the food dish & little Depeche Mouse would hop right on & climb up my arm to say hi. We've had other mice who were also quite friendly.
Good luck with your little ones.

Stick your hands in the cage everyday and let them get used to you. I have 31 mice currently. Not all of them trust me yet, but handling them everyday is what counts. Male mice are much more friendly than females, but smell ten times worse.

Let them get to know you. Our mice love to be picked up. They crawl all over us--especially on our shoulders. It just takes a little time.

I just got my first female mouse yesterday. She is white with red eyes, so I named her Ruby! O, and for your question, go with what everyone else said..............
