You don't need to bring her inside, its not winter yet. I know a lot of dog owners who's dogs have their puppies outside in their dog houses.

Don't feed her different food, she'll get diarrhea because of it and so the pups will have it too, and they may get dehydrated from it and die.

There is no need to separate the her from the male unless she gets mad at him for coming close, and she tries to bite him.

The pups don't need anything but their mom for now. You can start feeding them canned dog food mixed with water when they turn 3 weeks old. You can separate them from their mom at 6 weeks of age.

I hope that my answer had helped you in your situation, and don't let the "spay and neuter police" get you down and make you feel bad because of their rude/ignorant answers. They are always like this when someone has a question that is similar to yours.

Good Luck xD

No, you don't HAVE to bring her in but I would recommend it. Pups will not have their eyes open for 10-14 days and they do not need to be lying in the dirt or somewhere that mom can lay on top of them as many first time moms do. I usually mix in canned Alpo with the dry food for my dams, feed her as much as she wants to eat. She needs to have plenty of milk for the pups. And yes, you do need to separate the male. Once she has the pups, she may not want him around and may become overprotective. Also, larger dogs that have never been around pups before tend to play a little rough and the pups will be fragile for a few weeks.

Don't worry, she should take good care of them. Just keep watch & make sure all are fed. I always have a vet check out the litter in the first few weeks just to make sure everything looks good.

OK, now...begin de-worming pups at 2 wks. Use Nemex-2 (or a generic brand-the ingredient is pyrantel pamoate-double strength-4.54mg). You need to weigh pups with a kitchen scale first. Give them 1cc (1ml) for every 2 lbs. of body weight with a serenge. Repeat this at 3, 4, 6, & 8 wks if you still have any of the pups then. After that, you should only do it when needed or on a regular basis if they stay outside or in a contaminated area.

Start vaccinations at 6 wks-you can do this at home or go to a vet. Vaccinate every 3 wks until you have done this 4 times. Now they should be protected from most immuno-illnesses. They will need shots again in one year from the last set.

Hope this helps. If you have questions email me at buckshotbullies@yahoo.com

ok First off corkey... Can i call you corkey, ok corkey yeah te the dog inside its the pups best chance you can watch over them ane its less stressfull on the mom, yeah get her away form the male wich isnt a great idea to have 2 pits together unless its during a breeding, or a fight neither of wich would i recomend and if left together chances are goodboth will happen eventually the female needs a place to have the pups for conveniance i recomend a child wading pool the hard plastic kind its easy to disinfect cover the bottom with a blanked or somthing the pups can use to stay warm and off the plastic of the pool Keep them warm that is very important they need an air temp around 80 degrees there are so many things that could go wrong durring the whelping and i wont go into them cause unless you know your stuff thats best handeld by a vet. make sure the pups get the milk they need they sould always have full bellies thats the first sign a pup is in trouble if they dont seem to have a belly like the rest of them do it just means for one or more of about 500 possible reasons the pup is eating as much as the rest are and its weak for about 2-3 weeks the pups will sleep and eat and sleep and eat and pooh on ocasion lol the mom usually takes care of the messes How... she eats it she will have to lick their privates to make them go pee for the first week or two same with the number 2's also if they get past the first week then they are probobly ok and not suffering form any abnormalities or defects that would cause them troulbe eating or circulation problems But LOL your not out of the woods yet there are lots of diseases the pups could get so keep everything as clean as possible clean with one part bleach to one part water.. Not the pups the whelping area assuming the pups are ok and eating naturally without help there are lots of things that could happen to the mother again if she dosent seem right take her to the vet infections are not at all uncommon and can progress quickly to the point that i will kill an adult. try to get the mom to eat as much as possible but dont be all that supprised if she wont eat for a day or two but give her whatever you have to feed her to get her to eat this is the only time i reccoment taking a dog off a dry food hardboild eggs are good or mix cows or goats milk with her food she needs to produce milk for the pups.this is already getting long and i havent even begun to get started

But seriously Corkey if you ever think about breeding a dog without doing your research again maybe you should just forego pet ownership alltogether.

Yes i understand the irony in me refering to this person as a mentaly handicap young man form a telvision show in the early 90's while at the same time using no punctation, capitalization or petty much and grammar or sentance structure but its 2:30 am here so "f" off

You make me want to scream at you and give you a lecture about responsible dog ownership - but it's been done.

Get the dog inside - NOW. Keep her quiet and comfortable and away from other dogs.

Let her go about the business of having puppies (which she SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO, especially since you have obviously not prepared her or educated yourself in any way).

If she has any difficulty giving birth, or the puppies get stuck in her, CALL A VET if you can find one on the weekend, or at least someone near you who has some clue as to what they are doing with dogs.

Get this poor dog spayed asap, why would you add to the homeless population like this?????
Unvetted, uncared for puppies, probably going "free to good home" and being dumped eventually - sad, sad, sad.

You really should be ashamed - and you need to think in future and take responsibility for these poor animals.

First of all you deserve to get slapped, the last thing this world needs is another litter of pits owned by an ignorant, irrasponsible person. Whatever you do, do NOT bring these puppies to the shelter when they are born, chances they will be killed in no time.

Wow this post makes me so angry & sad. Yes of course you need to bring your dog inside, and yes, you DO need to feed her special foods.

You also NEED to take your dog to the vet to check up on the pregnancy & get some good advice.

And another thing, after she has her puppies do your dog & the world a favor and get her fixed!

Good luck, you're going to need it.

First of all put the male somewhere else so he doesn't hurt the puppies on accident or stress the female out. Bring her inside put her on some clean blanket or towels. keep her calm she probably won't need much help she probably do fine on her own, but stay near bye just in case. if she lets you help her clean them look them over make sure they are fine let her feed them. watch her all day and night she might deliever still born you dont want puppies left in her it could rot and kill her. When all are born take them to vet for a check up for mom and babies. If she rejects any you can buy puppy formula at any petstore. Keep family clean and warm.

First your dog needs to have a place where to give birth. A big cardboard box or a corner set up with blankets. In the beginning it is smarter to seperate the male but after all the puppies are born it is okay for them to be together. Your going to have to but a baby bottle and feed them milk. I have had puppies before and its pretty hard! They need a lot of hard work and attention. Feed your puppies milk every 3-4 hours. Even at night ! Make sure that you buy puppy pads and place them underneath them and change them around 3 times a day, depending on how messy it gets. You can start giving them puppy food around 3 weeks or when teeth are beginning to grow. Because as they grow older milk isnt enough for them. Make sure that as they grow older to always provide lots of toys and water for them. If you decide to give them away or sell them make sure they have good owners that know how to take care of them. Good luck with your puppies.

Hey Believer, I think your count is short...you only SAW it asked here 10 times today. It was ASKED more like 20.

Your pit is having pups, and you need answers RIGHT NOW?!??! DO you know a half cruddy canine reproduction book averages over TWO HUNDRED pages?!?! There's no WAY we can tell you everything you should have educated yourself about here and now. Call your vet. They know your dog better than we do...I hope. Then make an appointment to get her spayed as soon as the vet will do it.

yes you should bring her inside, make sure you keep the male away. you should have been feeding her puppy food the whole time she was pregnant. If she's in labor give her a nice quiet place, like a closet, but down blankets, and let nature take over. babys just need there mother. make sure she is producing milk and they are all eating, if not go to your vet and buy milk replacer, keep them with mom warm and dry and they should do fine. next time educate yourself first.

Ok first of all....... CALM DOWN! Lol

Yes seperate her and the male dog. The male may cause the female stress.

Don't give her any food or anything, she knows what to do.

If you see her having any trouble, call the vet and they'll either tell you to bring her down to the vet, or they'll walk you through it.

Best of luck with the new pups!
