i think that you should seriously put the computer away in a closet. as annoying and dumb and stupid and irritating that would be, braking your addicition when it is right there and so easy to acess might be hard. if you only have one cpmputer in your house, then don't but it could help. otherwise, some computers have a setting that have a time limit for being on the internet. have your parents set it and have them promise that no matter how much you nag them that they wont give in and let you go on. problem solved, with time. good luck. keep yourself occupied with something else.

like a drug addict, ween yourself off it. try going half an hour less a day, then an hour, 2 hours, etc. replace that time with music, a movie or something else you enjoy (not schoolwork, because you won't want to do it.) after you've got the hang of it for a week or so, instead of watching a movie do some study (or anything else you have to do). just a bit, then do more and more every day. I don't know if this'll work but it's worth a try. good luck.

try finding something else to do for me it is getting more things to occupy my time... but that wasn't my addiction. try playing an instrument going outside and running calling a friend dancing listening to music..... the worst... studying lol gl i hope i helped and i know what you feel like. Just don't be mad at your parents because it happens a lot in teens. Also, if you have my space or face book etc. those are the most addicting lol i used to be a my space addict. but i started playing guitar and it has taken up my time being in a band

Talk with a school counselor. Find self-help sites on the internet like this one.
http://www.utdallas.edu/counseling/selfhelp/computer-addiction.html
Look for other activities that interest you.
Find a group of friends that are not internet users.

..heh. Wow. I go through the same exact thing.. I don't think there is a cure for that.. Just TRY and keep your mind off of it, and try to hang out with friends more often. (If you have any, 'cause I don't. I just moved out to Jersey. The computer is all I have now.) ='(

You probably feel obligated to keep answering the PEOPLE you deal with regularly.
Just send them all a message that you will only be able to check email twice a week. And then start checking it only twice a week.
Simple, really.
