The National Guard is building the fence. Deportations are taking place and ICE is raiding employers who hire illegals. There is outrage over the illegal that killed those people. Sure there is a long road ahead but things are going well right now. I can't wait for the day there are no illegals left.

Well, all I can tell you is that here, in California, there is so much racial tension going on. So many of the younger Mexicans think they have the right to disrespect & verbally abuse anyone who is not of their same group. It's getting bad when even the Mexicans can't feel safe in their own neighborhoods!

Most of this is eye candy to shut people up. Bush is still dead-set against securing the border so until he is finally gone all of this is mostly ineffective whitewash. Judges are still knocking down local laws that attempt to pick up where the Federal government refuses to act... illegals still have free run and are not prosecuted when they are involved in motor vehicle accidents, people hire them at poverty wages with impunity, and overall not much is changed.

The real change will come when ordinary citizens start going out with clubs and busting heads, because the wimp legal system is more concerned with the illegals' rights than the fact they are criminals.

I have to agree with elude and sherryn, also I was reading on answers yesturday that the government has passed a bill to let 100 truck companys deliver in USA. I wonder if our DOT will get paid enough to let illegals go through? Because you know alot of the drivers will be transporting illegal items ect. Also I have been in the border towns, and it was common to see illegals pay off the law to get through.Americans have no idea what a mess our country is in.

There will never be a day when all illegals are gone. So, you will be waiting forever. Those 12 million illegal immigrants are not going anywhere. But it's good that they are attempting to secure the border, and there is a long road ahead, . . . until they legalize them.

And where is your source so I know it's for real?

Sorry to tell you this, but our government is only trying to fool you by making you believe they are doing something about it. Several raids here and there and everyone thinks they are doing a good job. Totally wrong!
Example: the wall that is being built was built on Mexico's land therefore it will have to be torn down and rebuilt. Now can anyone tell me how the architects, designers, land surveyors and any others involved get this so wrong. Approx. 3 feet into Mexico.

it is only temporary; employers of cheap slavelike labor are just waiting for the heat to die down; they have paid these politicians heavily to look the other way while they hire illegals; the fix is in and it will be business as usual; honest, tax paying citizens need to remain vigilant and keep the heat on these whore politicians

*Reality Check* There won't be a day without illegals so keep dreaming because those 12 million illegals are here to stay. There's no other way out but to legalize them. As for the borders it is good that they are securing them better nowadays but if they had been secured as well as they are today we wouldn't have this problem, so we should'nt blame the illegals yep thats my 2 cents on this "issue".

Yes, things are going very well for the law abiding and civic minded American. Oddly enough, I have read recently here that some are un willing to accept that and would prefer to think that illegals are staying.

I would stay as headstrong about immigration as Bush has been about Iraq. Never wavering, always focused on the goal, regardless of what people say.
