this is a wonderful question, and there are some great answers to it.
sometimes when I read what goes on here, I have to shake my head, and wonder, and hope and pray that I am not one of those that has hurt someone with my words.
And have to think that if we as a people would try to understand each other, to be kind to each other, and to be forgiving of each other, that this world would be so much better a place to live in.

Hurting people, hurt people. You can only give what you possess in your own heart, if it is filled with pain, then pain is what you have to give, if it is anger, then it is anger, if it is love, then it is love. Hurting people, hurt people.
Someone once said, that if you know the whole of what another has been through, and you could feel all the pains, all the disappointments they felt since birth, you would know all the fears that a man carries with him, and you would totally understand why a person does the things he/she does.
Jesus said that it's not what goes into the body that defiles it and makes it unclean, it's what comes out of a person's heart, whatever is in the heart, flows through the tongue/through the speech.
You cannot give away what you do not possess. That's why it is imperative that we do as Jesus said do, and love one another as ourselves, even as He first loved us.
You first must receive Love, to know it. Some are filled with so much pain, and fear, distrust and anger simply because that is all they've ever received & known in life. Some merely repeat the offense that was done to them, simply because they don't know any other way, and they're afraid to let others get too close because they fear getting hurt more.
It's like Jesus said even while on the cross, "Forgive them Father, [they know not what they do]." They do the only thing they know.
"Hurt people......hurt people".
If you notice, people who are positive, happy, caring, joyful people, who love life and other people do just the opposite of this. They want others to be happy and enjoy life and want for everybody to get along with each other. They are what Jesus calls "Peacemakers".
When a person is happy, enjoying life and truly loves & cares about others, they lift others up, and use words to encourage others, and build them up, not tear them down.
No one can be totally self-aborbed and centered on their heartaches and be hurting and/or angry on the inside and care about the best interests/feelings of others and think of ways to be kind at the same time.
It's impossible to be filled with hurtful, hateful, negative words in the heart & mind, and then have kind soothing loving positive or thoughtful words flow out of your mouth.
**People hurt each other with words, because their hearts are over-flowing with heartache and pain.

I seek out my brethren at the first feeling of conviction and seek forgiveness, before I take it to the altar and repent of my hurtful words to Jesus. Sometimes, someone else has to point out my mistake if I am not aware I offended anyone. That is okay because I humbly bow down to them and take it.

The people who continue to shoot out their mouths have some sort of mental illness, to put it into simple terms would be that they are not well. These people are miserable and they have to make people's life miserable.
It can be due to competition. Evil and corruption which is the work of satan. Jealousey
Where have the values of respect gone?

Because knives through the computer just only hurt the computer. :-)
Seriously because they are hurt or offended by something and they lash out to make someone else hurt the way they have been hurt. Hurt begets hurt.

You poor little guy, you should have never had to hear anything mean. You need to put your little baby hands over your ears. We should all work on being just a little kinder than we were yesterday. If we do that every day, then someday.......
