Well one that worked for me was i had my friend walk with me so he could see himself in a mirror as he walked down a mall. He walked with such a swagger or arrogance that he even noticed it in the mirror as I hoped he would.

ever since then, 12 years ago, he has become much more humble. No longer so pompous and arrogant but still has a temper. It was a really embarrassing moment for him when i told him yes that is how you always appear and look to people. Many just do not realize that they are and need a gentle nudge to let them know.

it's funny but a smirk and sideways look will knock someone off a step. Sometimes what you don't say kills people more. If you must say something, I'd go with:

"You do realize that we all know you're a complete pathalogical, self over-rating, piece of crap liar right? I still want you for a friend, but you don't have to act like a retard all the time. okay?"

If it really bothers you, you might want to find a different friend. You could chuckle while shaking your head from side to side as if you were nodding No, when ever he does this. He may notice and tone it down. But if he doesn't, you have to decide if you can live with it.

Maybe something like " You know, I've already chosen you for a friend-you don't have to keep trying to convince me". That will tell him you dislike his braggadocio and remind him that you still like him.

Humility goes a lot further than arrogance.

Better to be humble than arrogant.

If he's really your friend, keep your mouth shut and put up with his faults.

You're not perfect you know, and he's probably putting up with your faults too!

- Don't laugh at his jokes

- Roll your eyes when he talks about himself

- Tell him he's portraying himself as an arrogant jerk
