I'm sure there are, but whether they are well-known I don't know.
I'm glad you brought up Fred Rogers. I regularly watched his show as I kid and remember saying I liked him because he was "gentle" and "patient." He provided a familiar, stable, kind (male)presence on television, and I don't recall him "pushing" any belief system through talk.
Super question and topic. Thanks for asking.

Just because you never hear of them, doesn't mean they do not exist. Not all ministers use television or radio to get their word out. There are several ministers that I have knows personally that are awesome. One is so awesome that you actually think you are talking to Jesus himself when you carry on a conversation with him and his preaching is just like the sermon on the mount was. He also has an awesome healing ministry. His name is Pastor Joseph R. Martin. He has a wife named Kathy and the last I knew, had 7 children. Another minister who I know has an awesome ministry. His name is Arthur Blessed and he travels on foot all around the country. He carries a cross everywhere he goes too, just like Jesus carried one up Golotha. I'm not talking this tiny kind you hang around your neck, but a 10 foot long by 6 foot arm span kind made of solid wood that is 8 inches thick. He came to our church several times and preached. He is an evangelist. Neither of those ministers are famous as you would call famous but they are very good ministers none the less. I am sure there are alot of them out there, ones that just witness to people in need on a day to day basis. We may never hear about them or about what they have done, but God knows. That is all that matters.
PS. I read the input about ministers not preaching if they have a secular job. There is no scriptural basis for that. Jesus was a carpenter. Peter, James and John were fishermen. The best ministers out there are the greatest witnesses in the work area. That is where they are needed most.

I loved Mister Rogers too. I went on an Urban legend Website and found out that all of the different 'horrible' stuff floating around out there about him totally false without exception. In fact he was quoted as saying 'I hate television that's why I got into it' Meaning he disapproved of all of the gross things being said and shown on Television so he wanted a safe haven for the children if you will.

There are...I believe they are rare and few...It's really funny because just yesterday a friend of mine happen to tell me a little story about Mister Rogers...How he saved a whole lot of people in the war....and it came from Captian Kangaroo as to what happened...I didn't even know they were affiliated with each other....the story is awesome...and to me, unless you experience hell like the war back then and you come out sane and rational you have God....things were not as easy back then as they are in the war now....there are ministers that have a remarkable background....and you know what makes them so special? They are humble...they preach the word of God without boasting about themselves...that's why they are hard to find......

I do agree that Mr. Rogers did teach a positive message in a non-preachy way, but if you had to watch him everyday as your kids were growing up, I think he would began to get the better of you. I am sorry, but no one is that perfect. He just got on my nerves. I think that the Song "It's a Beutiful Day In the Neighborhood was a little to much.

If you're thinking of the PBS Mister Rogers, and basing your opinion about him on how he was on that show, then you could be entirely wrong. Unless you actually attended his church regularly, you really don't know what he preached in his sermons. Typically speaking, ministers aren't supposed to "preach" if they work at a secular job; and mostly likely this would have been the same for Mister Rogers.

I know lots of them, but none on television. Rev. Rogers was a lighthouse among men.
Those are urban legends, Indiana.

I've know about Fred Rogers for years. And I know that I don't know much about his personal life.
But I never remember hearing him say "I am a Christian" or telling people about Jesus.
I've never heard the Rev. Jesse Jackson say that sort of thing either.
So while I've heard Mr. Rogers was an Ordained Presbyterian , that does not mean that he was a Christian. I know lots of ordained Lutherans and Presbyterians and Methodists who are NOT Christians.

Mister Rogers was so awesome. I used to watch him when I was little. He integrity spoke volumes for the kind of man he was. I wish more of our preachers had that same type of influence in peoples lives.
Universal Pants!!! I had forgotten all about his shoes! lol
